After less than a Year, drive fails

Jose R., Newegg
11 January 2015
  • Pros: Well the only good thing about this drive is that it is affordable which is why I got it in the first place, and its waterproof and "shockproof".
  • Cons: When I first got this drive I partitioned it to 2 different drives, 1 is for Windows (FAT32) and the other for Mac (Mac Journal). After about less than 2 years, for some reason, the Mac partition cannot be found. I have tried several different macbooks, imac etc but none can read it. The Windows ...

STAY AWAY - Flawed Design

Wade H., Newegg
27 September 2014
  • Summary: Find a different drive to purchase and just take care of it. I should have known this was a mistake from the beginning.
  • Pros: None
  • Cons: Update from my previous review. As I mentioned before the USB port was flimsy and now has completely failed me. ADATA will not cover data backup but won't warranty my drive either. I want my data first before I RMA the drive and ADATA mentioned they would give manager approval as long as I had a ...

Terible Drive and Poor Design

Wade H., Newegg
27 September 2014
  • Summary: You will regret buying this if you do!
  • Pros: None
  • Cons: The USB port WILL fail on you. Constantly disconnects and connects. Mine finally broke from normal wear and tear through 2.5 years and now ADATA is not following through with their warranty.

Absolute garbage, Don't buy this if you are looking for a HD hard drive able to survive a deployment.

Amazon Customer, Amazon
21 August 2014
  • Summary: Very cheaply put together. Appears to be a standard hard drive with ADATA livery hot glued to to exterior. Failed during the first backup of a 500gb hd in a 70°F room. Calling this military-spec is just a catch word like you would see on a childrens toy.

  • Summary: bought one, after a year the cord connections went bad. I assumed it was an anomaly (replacing the cord did not help), I bought a second one, same problem. Quite irritating. Don't buy. many other products that will do the same job.

Failed Less than 2 Months after Purchase

Mat K, Amazon
23 June 2014
  • Summary: "Military Spec" lasted all of maybe 48 hours of use, before it died. Lost all the data on it. Save yourself a headache and buy a name brand.

cables issues and complete data loss

Ricardo Roman, Amazon
24 April 2014
  • Summary: Bought this new at a local retail store and was assured it was the best on the market. Both water and bump proof... I did not buy because of these "features" dont intend to find out if it is water proof or otherwise... just need a portable 1TB that does not require an AC adapter.

Cable connection is NOT shockproof

Daniel E., Newegg
18 February 2014
  • Pros: looks nice - worked well when brand new.
  • Cons: While the case itself may be rubber covered and shockproof - the cable connection is really weak. Once it gets a little banged you can forget getting it to stay connected. Slightest touch or movement will disconnect and interrupt whatever you are doing.

STAY AWAY!!!

Anonymous, Newegg
27 December 2013
  • Summary: ADATA Taiwan support is nothing but rubbish. I emailed them over and over. The techie makes as if he doesn't understand what you're writing to the point he hopes you'll bet fedup and decide to give up.
  • Pros: Looks Cool. LOves how the USB cable wraps around the rubber casing.
  • Cons: Drive gave trouble out of the box. Very picky on which PCs to perform in USB 3 mode. Few PCs wouldn't even see the drive or it would connect6 and dosconnect all the time. Works fine on these PCs in USB 2 mode though, pointless. Cable connection is VERY LOOSE as mentioned by many reviewers. I have...

cable issues for sure

D. Gould "djeeg", Amazon
26 August 2013
  • Summary: Drive seems to work fine, WHEN I can use it. The cable fits much too loose at the drive end, and it gets worse and worse over time. If it's not exactly in the plug, the drive shuts off. This can happen just from placing a coffee cup on the desk next to the drive.
