Conclusion: Nicely priced, the rugged ADATA DashDrive Durable HD710 gives your data a layer of physical protection while you commute. However, a few flaws keep it from our highest honors.
Pros: Rubberized case. Water resistant. Channel for storing cable. Good file copy speed.
Cons: Cable channel and protective door are a bit fussy. Fake carbon fiber is never a good idea. Cable wrapped around chassis has potential to rub and fray. Cable connection needs a guide for a tight connection.
Summary: The ADATA Dashdrive Durable HD710 is supposed to be one of the more rugged and survivable kinds of external hard drive in existence. It is meant to be dust and water resistant, and ADATA even claims that the shock resistance is military-grade. Does this all add up to a worthy portable storage device? Well, that depends. It is a 500GB/1TB external hard drive that is designed to withstand spills, drops, and dust.
