Summary: I've had a few guitars and the Yamahas that I've had have all been built to a fantastic quality. The ERG came my way extremely cheap, I was only hoping to get a good neck to fit to another guitar. I wasn't expecting it to be as good as it was as I knew this was a budget guitar. However, the feel of this guitar completely belies it's price, excellent action and playability. I had an even bigger shock when I plugged it in, it has really good tone as well.
Excerpt: I bought one of these a couple of years ago. It felt okay to play, but the humbuckers and single pick-ups sounded dull and uninspiring. Also the selector switch was cheap and temperamental. What I did: changed the selector for a strat switch, fitted slightly narrower saddle blocks so I could fit a s.duncan Duncan distortion mayhem set of humbuckers,( ditched single p.up). fitted a silver pearlescent scratch-plate. Also I sanded down the head-stock to make it pointier.
Excerpt: Well I have owned this product for over a year now and I could not be more happy with it it is an amazing guitar for beginners and advanced users alike. The guitar also sounds excellant when played through a larger amp e.g. a marshall stack (trust me Ive played many gigs with it :) only thing I would recommend is that you purchase a new jack lead after a short time as the cable is low quality sound tranfer. Other than that this is an brilliant product at a great price.
