Great instrument. Well made. Sounds great. Feels great. Watch action height

  • Summary: Great guitar. Don't be concerned about use of non timber parts. Sound is very natural. Fantastic neck. Problem with saddle height. Apparently it's not uncommon to see Martins where you can't lower the saddle enough. This guitar is borderline with that issue. Action was extremely high, and unplayable. Shaved most of the bottom of the saddle to get a lower action, and there is just enough height. No movement in the body so it's a production fault.

  • Summary: A delightful dreadnought mahogony guitar. Nothing fancy but great for fingerpicking and bluegrass style with that deep base sound that only faultless Martin can accomplish. Along with a beautiful rosewood fretboard the D16 GT is exceptional value for money- retailing in the UK for around 900 pounds one could do a lot worse - this is a guitar you won't want to sell or trade.
  • Pros: tone, weight,
  • Cons: plain, appears mediocre
