Conclusion: I'm critical about this guitar, but for the price it's terrific. A Rick blows this out fo the water ... design and quality wise..., but the Rick's narrow neck makes it unplayable. This wide neck is a delight. As long as you are realistic about what you're buying, hard to beat the sound and playability at this price. I just wish the pups were better for a wider range of sounds, but it could be alot worse.
Conclusion: Have been playing since the British Invasion, if that registers. Given the overall high quality of build and the physical components and assembly, you're best advised to consider this a platform for creating your own sound, which with a few extra dollars for the desired components and some time and care, creates an exceptional and very personalized instrument. I'd replace this in a NY minute, if it were stolen or damaged, and perform the same mods.
Conclusion: I never thought about purchasing a Dean guitar before as I really don't care for the head banger image they insist on portraying. Until now that is. If you want a quality electric 12 string without selling one of your children to raise the cash to purchase it, buy a BOCA 12!!! You will not be disappointed!!!!
Excerpt: It's fun to play and looks awsome. But, I wouldn't go on stage with it or record with it in the studio. Zzounds, just look at your own pictures! It is obvious to a fault that the bridge/saddles are TOO SMALL. You can see that the strings are spaced wrong between the stop bar and bridge. Replace the bridge with one that fits. I would also recommend replacing the pickups with rails at the least.
Summary: Every once in while you get a product that completely surpasses what you expected for the money you paid. And this one is it. Dean guitars did great in this line. Not only the action is perfect, but also the finish and the pickups to the body, everything is great. The pickups are sufficient. I play this through Fender tube amp. I can just imagine this guitar would sound fantastic through a Fender Twin Reverb.
