Excellent upgrade to the Sony e-reader Tx Line!

Jack T. Riggins "Silicon Valley Jack", Amazon

  • Summary: Sadly, this device will not see distribution in the US; Sony does not want it to compete with it's new tablet. This is particularly frustrating because ereaders and tablets are entirely unrelated devices. The only flaw is that Sony did not include back-lighting (which would put it on par with the Kindle Paper White). If you can get this, and want a faster, lighter, better Sony PRS reader, it will be exactly what you want.

  • Summary: Sony Reader Shocking Customer Service I received a t3 reader from Sony for Christmas, in August it stopped working, it had been carried in a bag with a Kobo E Book, a mobile phone and two cameras, they were all undamaged. Returned under warranty to Sony UK who said it was damaged by me which I dispute it was not dropped etc. it stopped working while being carried in a bag which was not dropped or taken out of my sight.

Just so much rubbish

  • Summary: Don't bother buying this. I started my ereading with the first Sony and I loved it. I saw this one and thought the improvements were worth upgrading. Apart from the lack a light, I thought it was an excellent bit of technology. Obviously I also liked Sony products. Then I opened the book one morning and a third of the screen was obscured with what looked like an artefact from the book I was reading. Still under warranty, I sent it to Sony to be repaired.

Competent reader, but lack of front light hampers night reading

  • Summary: The T3 feels quite nice in the hand with decent build quality. It's based on Android OS, and very easy to use and navigate thanks to real buttons on the front panel. It's a standard e-reader with a 6" e-ink screen, but the lack of front light makes for a less than great experience in low light reading. Storage space is 2GB but it's only around 1.3GB when you boot it up ready to use, enough for a fair few ebooks, but you might want to beef up the capacity with an SD card.

  • Summary: I have had a Sony reader for some time and have been very pleased with it, thought I would try and update to a more modern one. Had problem trying to work out if I needed a new charger buy for any one upgrading from an older Sony the chargers are the same.

They only get better, the SONY Reader series.

Prof Harvey Crichton, Amazon

  • Summary: I had the first SONY Reader in 2007 when they came out. This newer model is much faster and easier to use and with longer battery life ,is lighter and better quality unlike a Kindle and if you go to Guttenberg.com and other free txt websites you can unlike a Kindle download everything free onto it. Fabulous item. I will never be without one. A life changing item.

Great device

  • Summary: Great e-reader, have tried both this and the kindle and although both are good for me the Sony comes out top as I find the screen easier to read and battery life always seems better, although typically I only use it for two hours a day while on train. It's nice and light as well.
