Summary: I got my Sony PRS-700 back in 2007. I love it. I bought this one because the soft cover broke and I couldn't find one for sale alone(for my model) My original still works great! It doesn't glare in the sun, it has a light built into it, it is light, the touch screen is great, the battery life on it lasts for at least a week (less so if you're using the light) You can bookmark, make notes highlight and create collections.
Summary: I've had the PRS- 700 since they first came out, got it as a gift, and I love it. I know it's not as clear looking as their other models and there is glare from hell, but I love that built in light and the angle at which I naturally hold the reader, the same as I do my paper books, makes the glare a non-issue for me in most circumstances. When it is a problem a slight angle adjustment fixes it. The battery life was awesome when I first got it.
Summary: I purchased a Sony Reader almost two years ago, and after 2 years of use I can say that this is one of the best purchases I have ever made. I have read more and have saved money because of this device. I love physical books, but the bottom line is I love reading more than the book aesthetic. And I can and do still read hard copies. The Reader PRS700BC has it's own aesthetic and usefulness like built in lights.
Summary: I've had my 700 for almost a year and it's by far the best purchase I've ever made. I'm trying to find one for my husband but since they are discontinued I'm having trouble. The most attractive features, for me, are the memory card slots, that it accepts many file formats, and the optional screen lighting. I don't use the Sony store or any other ebook purchasing site. Rather I find free ebooks to download at various sources (try Project Gutenberg!!
Summary: I got the PRS 700 model for Christmas last year, and as a lifelong avid reader, I wasn't really sure how it would feel to read off of a screen. But, I have long since fallen in love with this. Sony has tons of great books available, and if I miss the fabulous familiar smell of old books, I still go to the bookstore. You won't be sorry if you get this...I cannot say enough good things about this product.
