Summary: I got my Sony PRS-700 back in 2007. I love it. I bought this one because the soft cover broke and I couldn't find one for sale alone(for my model) My original still works great! It doesn't glare in the sun, it has a light built into it, it is light, the touch screen is great, the battery life on it lasts for at least a week (less so if you're using the light) You can bookmark, make notes highlight and create collections.
Summary: I purchased a Sony Reader almost two years ago, and after 2 years of use I can say that this is one of the best purchases I have ever made. I have read more and have saved money because of this device. I love physical books, but the bottom line is I love reading more than the book aesthetic. And I can and do still read hard copies. The Reader PRS700BC has it's own aesthetic and usefulness like built in lights.
Summary: I got the PRS 700 model for Christmas last year, and as a lifelong avid reader, I wasn't really sure how it would feel to read off of a screen. But, I have long since fallen in love with this. Sony has tons of great books available, and if I miss the fabulous familiar smell of old books, I still go to the bookstore. You won't be sorry if you get this...I cannot say enough good things about this product.
Summary: This is my first digital reader. I was trying to decide between the kindle 2, sony 505 and sony 700. I spent alot of time reading all the reviews and finally narrowed it down to the sony 505 and 700 (due to the fact that we are not in an area that recieves high speed wireless signal for kindle and it's kinda klunky looking compared to the sony readers and does not have a built in light).
Summary: Some few days ago I received my Sony PRS-700 in the mail. Like a kid on Christmas morning I was aquiver in expectation, and it did not disappoint. I have watched for over a year now the advances that e-book reading technology has taken, and finally decided that it was time to take the plunge. After some thorough research, I discovered that the Sony Reader was more suitable to my needs than the much hyped Kindle.
Summary: Ok, first of all, excuse my English. I live in Germany and so English is not my native language. But now to the most important things. Over here, the PRS 700 is not offered. Germany just started selling and offering eBooks officialy through 2 big book stores, so this whole issue was brand new to me. I actualy wanted a Kindle2, but Amazon couldn't give any information, when it will launch the German market. Now, I'm glad, that I didn't get it.
Summary: I have sitting in front of me the Sony PS-505, the Kindle, and the PRS-700BC ebook readers. There is no question that the PRS-700BC is the best of the group. All of them function well and do what is expected but the additions to the 700 make it a step above the others. The touch screen is wonderful, although it reduces the clarity of the screen compared to the other two. This is more than made up for with the surround lighting available.
