Summary: Looked great, came with directions, cord, and leather cover...BUT...it refused to charge! I tried everything. I don't think it was the problem with the cord, becuase it seemed to get power. It would show that the device was charging, but even after a whole day of charging (when the source of electricity was constant and it only requires a minimum of 4 hrs if it's been dead for a while) did not help. As soon as it was unplugged it died. Shoot!
Summary: My unit died after 5 weeks. SONY is absolutely adamant about receipts for warranties, so make sure you save yours. The replacement unit had someone else's name and telephone # indelibly engraved on the front. Calls to the "Customer Satisfaction Center" usually simply hung up without getting through. Note that the full warranty is only 90 days, after which you will be charged for labor. 90 days gets used up real fast when shipping units back & forth multiple times.
Summary: I made the unfortunate choice of purchasing a PRS505 after trying one out at a Borders Book Store. I was impressed with the easy to read type, as well as the easy to manipulate controls. However, I only had the unit for a couple of weeks when I started noticing ghost images and text no matter how many times I changed pages. I called Sony Support, which resulted in my sending the unit in for repair.
Summary: I am something of an ereader junky. I have three. The Sony PRS 505 was the first, the most expensive, and the worst. I have never got it to work properly, dispite many calls to the help line. If you want an easy to use ereader, don't go for any of the Sony's, there are others on the market that are cheaper and work far better.
Summary: This reader (or non reader I should say) is the most godawful thing I have ever purchased ! Worked fine for.......3 weeks ........now it takes forever to turn pages........reads up to page 7 then refuses to go on......changing font size? forget it !! Buck your ideas up Sony !!! Totally NOT recommended.
Summary: I wondered if any other customers had any problems with this item. This was a gift for my mother's 60th birthday and she was thrilled to bits with it that is until it stopped working. Sony have refused to mend it unless we pay a ridiculous amount of money (more than it cost!) as they said it has some kind of condensation damage which was not caused by my mother or myself. Sorely disappointed and a complete waste of money.
Summary: This e-reader was a present and I was very pleased to received it. However it is nothing but a source of frustration. Loading documents is so difficult. Each time, I have to spend hours sorting it out, the whole thing freezes, it won't let me drag and drop, it always give error messages when trying to synch with the Library. It's a complete nightmare. I have been tempted to bin it on several occasions. Why can't it synch like an i-pod? The screen is OK.

Summary: I ordered this product after seeing the din about eBook readers and I was just waiting to open the pack when the reader arrived. But this excitment was short lived once I started using the reader. I guess this is the most horrible product Sony could have ever designed. I tend to read a lot of technical books and most of the them have pictures showing menu bar options and outputs.
