Good, dependable, no frills E-Reader

dwarfcollector, Ebay
5 July 2012
  • Summary: Even though this particular model is discontinued, for a basic E-Reader it fulfills all of my needs. While later models may have more features and memory (the PRS 500 only has 640 mb of memory and cannot connect to wi-fi) I find that it's ease of use and sd card slot more than make up for this. If you're looking for a good, solid, no frills E-Reader, this one definitely fits the bill very well!

Good brand

burgandygabe13, Ebay
13 July 2011
  • Summary: I love Sony Readers. I own the PRS-600 for myself. I purchased this model for my son and found very little support for it. This purchase did not work out but I would still recommend Sony Readers over the rest.

Great product for those with Auto-immune diseases

makingbacon2011, Ebay
3 July 2011
  • Summary: I bought this for my Mother-in-law who has lupus and mixed connective tissue disease. She has been unable to read because it causes her too much pain. She cannot even turn the pages of the book. This one came with a stand she can just set it in to charge and I can take it to download books for her. She loves it and the push button turn works wonders as well as being able to change the font size.

  • Summary: This is my first device of this kind, and although I have nothing to compare with, this is even more than I expected. The quality of Sony speaks for itself, the device is very convinient to use. I hope it will work for long time.

Outmoded and Obsolete

theimaginator, Amazon
6 February 2011
  • Summary: I bought this product, a week ago. I purchased several e-books to go with it. I went to load the e-books when i got it, and they would not load. I called Sony customer care, and they said that this reader no longer functions with their new e-book file type. And it hasn't since 2009. However, they were very accommodating when setting up and RMA for a free upgrade to a higher model.

E-Reader not working only after a month

jjmba07, Ebay
2 February 2011
  • Summary: I am very disappointed with my purchase. I have only had the item for a month and already it is not working. The reader froze and will not restart even after attempting to hit the reset button on the back. Now I have to have the item repaired by a technician and I am highly skeptical of the item being "new" as quoted in the online auction.

Sony PRS-500 Reader

bc-media08, Ebay
8 January 2011
  • Summary: This was bought as a Christmas present to me from my husband, but not really the one I would have chosen. It was a used unit so some of the things were not included that would have been in a new one. But I love it! It took me about 5 minutes after connecting it to the computer to download the software to get me to the store to purchase books. And to drag the book to the reader for downloading takes no more than 2 seconds.

Sony PRS-500 Reader

skipc99, Ebay
6 January 2011
  • Summary: This is my second reader - for my wife. I have quit reading regular books and put all my books on the PRS-500. It is easy to carry multiple books, is great in direct sunlight (unlike a tablet or laptop), is small, lasts days on a battery charge, and is lighter when reading in bed than a heavy novel (how lazy can you get?
