Summary: I picked this up on one of the promo sales, and I'm very glad I didn't pay full price. While it has the features I expect from an e-ink reader--long battery life, easy on the eyes--it's missing several features I've gotten used to from other ereaders. I am a sideload-only reader; I do not use the Kobo bookstore at all.
Summary: Having owned the Kindle (w/Keyboard) for several years, I was starting to look into getting my hands on a small, pocket sized eReader. By chance, the Kobo Mini was just about to release in the US within the week, and my local Best Buy would be receiving them. So I pre-ordered after reading the scant number of reviews and user videos.
Summary: The reader is ok it appears to have slightly less battery life than the kindle, but the kindle is far easier to use and to contact customer services than the KOBO. You literally have to jump through hoops of fire to either contact KOBO by email or phone. At least with the Kindle its a quick form and they call you back.
