Summary: I bought a Kobo Mini when they were on sale for around $40 about a month ago. It was supposed to be for my son and I am just getting around to setting it up. I have an old Kindle and my husband has a Kindle Touch which I sometimes use. I had hoped to be able to download more free books on the Kobo, but it is SUCH a pain compared to the Kindle. If I had paid the full price I would be furious. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS PIECE OF JUNK.
Summary: Loved if the first four months, portable, legible, plenty of storage and great form factor...then after turning it off--off mode displays the book cover of the book currently being read--only half of the screen turned back on with the lower half still displaying a portion of the original book cover. Resets, recharges, etc. have done nothing and Kobo support appears non existant. Too bad, very happy with it whie it worked but too expensive to risk trying again.
Summary: The kobo mini is small, light and easy to carry. This is it's only advantage over other e-readers. As other reviews will note, it is glitchy, slow, and freezes often. It also does not format pdf's well at all which makes them near impossible to read. All of that was almost tolerable however until I got a weird distortion on the top right hand corner of my device. I emailed support who promptly told me that it was physical damage and that the warranty didn't cover it.
Summary: This unit which I received for Christmas has not worked properly for any length of time. It will turn pages the wrong way or skip pages or freeze It has been reset with slight improvement. Now with factory reset it is not working at all. Don't waste your money on this e reader.
Summary: I was pretty excited to get my first ereader, but this one will have to go back. I finally found the manual for it, but for the information I was looking for, it just referred me back the their help website, that doesn't have the information I needed. I did manage to get a couple of PDF books I have loaded onto it, but it is too small to read.
Summary: My daughter gas a kobo mini and that is brill, but this one came with a thudding noise inside it, when I googled it this turned out to be a common problem with the battery having become unstuck from the inside of the kobo. Would have thought it would have been fixed a bit better than stuck.
Summary: I spent three hours today trying to put some books onto a kobo mini. As someone who owns a Kindle, spending more than 30-seconds with this process baffled me. Simply put: do not buy, grab a kindle.. not a Kobo. Ugh, Kobo man, Kobo.
