Summary: First one died within a few weeks, and their customer service was terrible. Sent it back and received a RECONDITIONED one, not a new one. It frequently freezes up after charging. Putting new books on the reader is time-consuming and non-intuitive. I would not buy this again.
Summary: I was looking forward to having a working reader when I received this one. Right off the bat, it froze up and I couldn't get it to work. I sent an email and was told to use the reset, but wasn'[t told where it was. I finally found it and it did bring my reader back to life, but it was very confused.
Summary: I wanted to love it sooooo much. I bought two - one for myself, one for my son. After two weeks, my son's brand new kobo froze. Tried everything recommended online, and by the company, it would not work. So Kobo replaced it. With a refurbished one.
Excerpt: I notice the great reviews come after only 2 to 7 weeks of ownership. I was quite happy with mine during that same time frame. HOWEVER, I was aware, from reviews on other sites, of problems with horizontal & vertical lines across the screen occurring, but I ignored those reviews and now I regret it.
Summary: I bought a Kobo because I was supposed to be able to download eBooks from public libraries. This is not happening. Looks like a bug in the ADE is impeding me to do that. I've tried 100 different things to fix this bug, factory reset (3x in 1 week), different Windows and computer, different license...
Summary: Good screen and compatibility led me to buy this device. Unfortunately, and despite very little actual use, the micro-USB port detached just past warranty. After enquiring over repair cost, and receiving several assurances of help, Kobo ceased responding, and left me hanging.
Summary: The HUGE advantage of the kobo glo is that you can borrow library books with it, while you can't do that with a kindle. In all other ways, unfortunately, it's worse. (I had a kindle for a few years and it died for no reason one night when I left it out on the coffee table.
Summary: I have now been using the Kobo Glo for about a month and have read six books in that time, see my list of Pros and Cons below: Pros: The light works well for reading in a dim room (it is too bright unless you turn it down though). The build quality of the hardware seems to be excellent.
