Summary: Problem is what my wife cannot read books from Sribd which she the most likes. I bought that for her and that was a mistake - she is not using Kobo even if it looks good and reading is enjoyable, but she can't read what she wants. That is the reason why I can't recommend Kobo Aura HD. If I am wrong pls let me know.
Summary: The screens on these crack very easily. Mine broke after a short drop onto carpet while in a protective case. Kobo's warranty doesn't cover physical damage. In contrast to their competitors, they don't offer a repair service, and replacement parts aren't available. Basically, if your screen cracks, and there's a good chance it will, it's buy another one at full price or loose your library.
Summary: This is my third reader (Sony, Kindle) and I have never disliked a reader as much as I dislike this one. I would return it if I'd realised in time to do so how utterly useless this is. To be honest I purchased it to read pdf's as Kindle is a nightmare with them and I have hundreds as PhD student, but didn't realise that you can't highlight or mark up pdf's at all on it, which is my own fault for not noticing that in any of the reviews I read beforehand.
Summary: Bought this for my wife. She loved it until the screen stopped working after four weeks. Kobo is impossible to deal with. Bought the machine at Staples. They say we must deal with Kobo. Indigo manager said it was definitely a defect (twice) but Kobo says it was us. No replacement, even though this defect is all over the web. Incidentally, Indigo cannot get hold of Kobo by phone. They, like us, are referred to the web site.
Excerpt: Worked well for 3 months then screen froze for no reason. Would not reboot, reset or recharge.Common occurrence I have read on forums etc.... Lost all my bookmarks and notes etc... Returned for refund.
Excerpt: I received a Kobo Aura for Christmas but after 2 weeks the screen broke and Kobo deemed it physical damage which is not covered under their warranty. Kobo does not fix any broken devices. I was told by Kobo that if I buy another device I will get a free book of my choice for my troubles. You have been warned!!
Excerpt: Expected this to be better suited than my Kobo Aura non-HD eReader. Unfortunately, it weighed a lot heavier, the back was harder to hold as it didn't have the same grip texture as the non-HD, it's much harder to use the sleep/power-off button - really need to dig your nail in to move the button, and I see no difference in text/screen quality. As I am unable to return this eReader unless it is faulty, I am very unhappy with my purchase.
Summary: I was hyped to get this ereader and expected it to be fabulous considering it's pricey - very pricey - it is, after all, only an ereader, not a tablet. First of all, it is very unresponsive. Frustrating to sit there and try to tap or press the screen repeatedly and wait and then redo the tapping and wait and redo and wait....
