Summary: Got an StoryHD a while back, and it lasted a couple of months. Then the screen went all wierd (leaving artifacts from the screensaver over the page). Looked online, it is a common issue. Contacted iRiver support, and they will fix it with a $70 service charge. If there were any kind of abuse, I could see it (but $70 is most of the price of the device anyway), but when not in use, I had it sitting in a cubby, so no animals or anything else could damage it.
Summary: Outstanding screen. Good to read ebooks on a SD card. ZoomIn don't work very well. But couldn't connect to the PC through USB: connecting for the first time, it sends a driver but Windows7 couldn't install it and failed. Support recommended oddly to download new firmware, unzip it on the PC and drag it(!) to the StoryHD. A deception!
Summary: Well, I have come here to rain on Iriver's parade. Sorry, the screen is great, pdf's look good on them, however, if you plan on searching your PDF like you expected on any other PDF device... no text search. All my books will have to be searched page by endless page (actually I am going to return it to Target tonight)[....
