Hands on Review of the Bebook Pure eReader

Good E-Book Readers
15 October 2012
  • Conclusion: When Bebook first designed this e-reader they talked to many companies in Europe to find out customers’ expectations. We talked to some of the management and they particularly cited Sony has being a key resource to find out what people wanted out of a device. They were told that less than 5% of Sony PRS-T1 users actually purchased ebooks from the Sony Store.
  • Pros: Slick Design, Manual Page Turn Keys, Plenty of Font, Margins, and eBook Options, Very Good for PDF Newspapers, Long Battery Life, Easy to Use

BeBook Pure

  • Conclusion: Faced with these odds, it's a slowly narrowing section that the BeBook Pure will actually appeal to. It's for ebook purists, those who want to buy and manage their ebooks outside of their reader device. For those looking for simplicity, a PC-free, one-device solution, then look elsewhere. Simply put, the BeBook Pure doesn't really do anything wrong. It's built well, feels nice in the hand and the display, whilst it could be better, is good enough.
  • Pros: Simple, feels nice in the hand, microSD card slot, 4GB internal memory
  • Cons: No Wi-Fi, no ecosystem, display could be better
