The NookColor fits the bill!
4 September 2014
Summary: The NookColor meets my needs. I didn't want the size or weight of an iPad, and this promises to do everything that an iPad does... only more compactly. In fact, the only thing I'm waiting for in the NookColor is the upcoming upgrade that will handle Flash files. My spouse has the newest Kindle, and is content with it, but I don't like the fact that the Kindle contrast is still low and is not backlit.
Not just a reader, mp3 player, photo slideshow... it's a TABLET!

Summary: I got this for one of my twin 11 y.o. granddaughters. (The other twin, not as responsible, got the Sony PRS-600, with metal cover & no internet access per my daughter's request.) My granddaughter was actually here with me looking at ebook readers on eBay when we found this item & realized it's not just for reading... it plays music, shows picture slide shows, and is a Tablet! (The Sony I got the other twin does the same, but is NOT a tablet.
The Nook Color is a great value and a decent tablet!

Summary: The Nook Color is a sturdy feeling reader. It is a little heavier than other E-readers, but it doesn't feel cheaply made. The color LCD display can be a little difficult to see with the glare of sunlight or certain direct lighting. Another advantage is the ability to expand storage with a MicroSD card. You can even boot off the MicroSD card using a unrestricted version of the Android OS. The Nook Color is perfect a perfect companion for reading.
Summary: The Nook Tablet 8gb is a terrific way to read books and magazines while enjoying your favorite music. Transferring the songs over to the Nook from my laptop was fast and easy. For folks who want the "full" tablet experience, they sell the N2A card which enables you to boot your Nook into a full tablet mode, with access to Google Play, and the 400,000 apps available there.
Summary: Love the Nook Bought as present for my sister to up grade her! She had first nook that came out is now having problems with buttons and nook cracked, also no more room for books! So I up grade her to color nook wifi , which I have, but discover her nook is even alittle more advance ! She is really enjoying her Nook, it will take along time to fill this nook up. Everyone should have one!
Summary: The nook works beautifully no matter what I use it for. I have read 7 books in just under 2 months which is more than I read in a years time. I can read it anywhere I go including in bed at night without having to turn on a light. This is the real reason I bought it. I also love the ability to access the Internet as well. I didn't realize that it would access the Internet so readily giving me the ability to facebook, work or research away from the house.
Summary: When I decided to buy an e-reader, I did a lot of research and decided that I really wanted just a basic one. I didn't need all of the bells and whistles. I looked at all of the black and white ones on the market and nearly purchased the NOOK Glowlight until I read some of the reviews about problems with the light. My friend owned a NOOK COLOR and really liked it so I decided what the heck. I have not been disappointed.
