Summary: I purchased this for my grandson for Christmas. We returned it. Every app you download you have to pay for. I got him a Kindle Fire and he loves it. The apps are free on this item. I would not recommend purchasing a nook.
Summary: I gave this as a gift. i received a call from the recipient today telling me that the unit did not work and that when they took it to Barnes and Noble to get help they were told it was some sort of recycled unit bought in bulk my Mexican companies to resell. This was a big disappointment to say the least. The BN employee even showed them markings on the packaging the indicated the Mexican connection.
Summary: I was super disappointed in the Nook color. I decided to go with this over the Kindle because it was cheaper, & I can see why now. The Nook runs EXTREMELY slow, & the frame itself is super sensitive. Like sometimes when I was reading a book and I touched a certain part of the outside the pages would just go nuts & start flipping themselves. And you can't use it while it's charging or else it will go into violent seizures.
Summary: I think that all international customers should be forewarned that Barnes and Noble prevents you from being able to purchase any books online from their bookstore, you will be sent emails stating that books can only be sold to customers "physically" residing in the United States. This is all despite having an international credit card accepted all over the United States (even by Barnes & Noble themselves as this is the same card that I used to pay for my B&N membership)...
Summary: I have had my Nook for over a year now and I think it is a great ereader. HOWEVER DO NOT buy your content from Barnes and Noble. In the first few months I had it I purchased about 30 books using their awesome click to buy feature. Then back in February, I thought I lost my credit card and cancelled it. I hadn't yet updated my new card on Barnes and Noble's site when I went to reread a book I had purchased months before. IT WOULD NOT DOWNLOAD.
Summary: I have discovered that Barnes and Noble does not warrant the books they sell for the Nook Color. If a book does not properly function, they have the option to "return it to the publisher for correction". The problem is that there never seems to be a fix, nor will they return your money. I have two books that are unusable. With the first book, I worked with their "online help" five times before giving up.
