Not so interesting collection

Ancholin, Bestbuy

  • Summary: This was included for free. Not something I would purchase on it's own. The only good thing is that it was a memory card with books pre-installed.
  • Pros: Nothing
  • Cons: Too limited

The NOOK is a CROOK!

  • Excerpt: I'm a very budget minded person and this was a huge purchase for me. It is one purchase I really REALLY regret. I have had it for less then two months and I have had to return it twice now. The screen freezes up and you have to take the battery out, let it sit out, then reboot it! Then it doesn't even work doing that! They (B&N) have replaced it both times. They have informed me it is a problem they know about.

  • Excerpt: I was disappointed that the only electronic reader I could use with Barnes and Noble's electronic books is the Nook.  Barnes and Noble has put a DRM (digital r=ights manager) on the system books purchased through B & N can only be read on the Nook.  This seems to me like B & N is loosing a lot of revenue from other E-reader owners.

  • Excerpt: I have been using my nook for about a month. Overall, it's an ok product. Probably not worthing its price. The newspaper reading function, if you have access to the internet, is pretty cool. It support pdf of different languages, but not txt or other file formats. The battery life if bad. The worst thing about nook is probably its page turning. It's slow and feels strange. I wouldn't recommend this product, although I am not returning it either.

I though the Nook was cool... Until I bought a Kindle

  • Excerpt: When I first got a nook, it looked great! I've never owned an digital reader before (aside from an iPhone)! I purchased the model with the 3G capability and thought "Wow, a device with free 3G service everywhere I go". You will learn that the 3G capability is quite useless, you will not be allowed to surf the web through their 3G service (you can only do that through wifi).

great product, bad design and customer support

  • Excerpt: Purchased the nook the day the update came along that fixed the freezing problem. Mine has frozen up twice since I got it, both times I think there was pressure on the button that turns on the color bottom panel. I really enjoy the fact that I can read with at least one hand free, walking and reading is much easier this way, doing anything and reading is easier. I find that I can get glare on my Nook, but just move or shift it and it's gone.

Not as good as expected

  • Excerpt: I received the Nook for Christmas but was sorely dissapointed. The first direction in the book is to charge it fully which should take 3 - 4 hours. Problem is that it never completed a charge. The little light stayed on for 3 days and the indicator showed less than fully charged. Also, when turning it on, the screen flickered a lot before showing the book I was reading. The response was slow to page turning and I was just not impressed at all.

The Nook could be better...

Average Joe, Amazon
11 January 2011
  • Summary: The Nook is soooooo close to being a great product. The promise is that users can download digital books easily from the public library, but it is NOT true. The Adobe Reader software makes this a cumbersome and frustrating task. Very very disappointing. The reason I purchased this was to leverage public library as well as purchased books. I feel like I was tricked.

Quickly re-sold it on E-bay at a profit while B&N is sold out...

Gary R. Gordon "Rustang", Amazon
6 January 2010
  • Summary: First let me start by saying this is not my first E-Reader. I had a Sony PRS-505 that I sold on E-Bay in anticipation of loving the Nook. It was great, a few years old and I loved the possibilities of the Nook. From the bullet list of its "features" it is the ultimate device, reality is much different. After the 1.1.1 patch was installed, a patch that promised great improvements, here are my observations: The Bad: 1. Battery life is grossly, I mean grossly overstated.

User Review

Taraxacum Vera, Yandex
1 April 2014
