defective, sold as ( and looked) new
21 August 2013
Excerpt: Unit looked and sold as new,but it has someone else's name and other information in it. It was probably returned because of the same defect that I found. more spefically, the "touch screen" page turning worked for a while each time unit was turned on, but soon became unresponsive. The page turning buttons still worked, but sometimes required several presses to turn the page.
Summary: Terrible product. If you want to have a computer experience comparable to about a 1980 PC then get this Nook. Slow, awkward, SD card never works, locks up constantly, screen flickers, bad/slow if ever response to commands, bad menus, poor power usage and on and on. Absolutely terrible. There is nothing I would not change. They completely overlooked the structure and software of this product with a sole emphasis on book sales. Sad.
Summary: I would have given this product a 5 star rating, because it does everything the good old Simple Touch does, except I purchased this item because of the description, instead of just buying the one without Glowlight. I am not real impressed with Barnes and Noble. Waited and hour and fifteen minutes last night for Chat to come online...finally gave up and went to bed. Just tried again, and got through in just a few minutes.
Summary: I have changed my review of this product from 5 stars to 0 stars. I was in love with this thing at one point in time. However, it has a horrible defect that I just cannot live with. If you sideload your books (add your own books to a memory card instead of purchasing from Barnes and Noble), everytime you turn the device completely off and on (like in the event of it freezing, like mine's has done more than once) all of your shelves (like collections on Kindle) will...
Summary: Very sorry I purchased 2 of these. They do not work for people living outside of the USA!! They were happy to sell these to us (yes I stupidly bought 2- one for my husband....)....yet as we live in Australia, we cannot buy any books online for it!! Also the touch screen doesnt work very well.I have to press on the screen many times before I get it to go to where I want it to!! An absolute dud!
Great Idea, Weak Screen - Small light producing tear
OT Girl13 "Go ahead, ask me what OT is!", Amazon
29 August 2012
Summary: I was super excited about this product, so much so that my boyfriend pre-ordered it for me so I got it the day it came out. I was in love with the product for a while, until one night my softish, rubberized watch brushed up against the screen and left a small scratch that allows a bright annoying light to come through. It's really quite annoying to look at while reading your book at night (which was the point of the whole device).
Summary: DON'T THROW AWAY YOUR MONEY The reader is great! When is rooted!!! The light (glow) is amazing, until develops a "hole*" (less than a month). If you are thinking to buy a ereader WAIT. The nook's glow looks and works great but it is extremly fragile. DON'T THROW AWAY YOUR MONEY, the glowlight cost is arround $40 extra (in Amazon is even more) and it would be useless in less than one month.
Summary: best to pass on this one. very little to recommend it. I should have waited. easy to scratch screen causes irritating stars of light with the glow. better to have a book. maybe okay at 49 dollars.
