Summary: I loved this tablet when I first got it. It has a big interface, beautiful image coloring when watching videos, and a nice amount of sound. However, this tablet overheats WAY too quickly. And when it starts to overheat there a faint dark line going across the middle of the tablet when holding it portrait sized. When it gets even hotter there are colored lines going all across the tablet!
Summary: I bought this Nook HD+ in the summer for $179 from BestBuy. It seemed like the best value at the time for a 32GB tablet. I thought that it would be good for our trip to Spain. We ended up using it to watch a few movies on the plane and that was it. Fast forward a few months of neglecting using the Nook and the device will not even turn on.
AMENDED -Overheats Freezes Up - Horrible Customer Service

Summary: We had overheating and freezing up problems on a newly purchased Nook HD Plus and Barnes and Noble gave us a refurbished replacement....it too over heated and locked up. Received a 3rd refurbished unit and it locked up also. Called B&N customer service to complain and demanded they send a new replacement unit. They said they would send a new one....they lied not once but three times saying they would send a new one.
Excerpt: Depending on what you want to do with this tablet, the nook is acceptable. if all you need to do is surf the web, access email and play popular apps, then this tablet is adequate. you cannot take pictures with it. Nor can you print anything off the web etc with it. It does not have the available apps that Apple offers, but the price is much more appealing than the Apple Ipad. WiFi works very well. Connection to the internet is good.
Rarer than a unicorn - Charger Cables HD+ availability in UK
15 March 2013
Summary: Yes rarer than a unicorn - that's the availability of the 30 pin proprietary charger cables for the Nook HD+ in the UK since launch .The product is excellent- assuming it has power. If you lose or damage your charger cable be warned you will not easily get a replacement. Since the product launched shortly before Christmas 2012 to mid March 2013 there have been no charger cables supplied to the UK.
