For a Gift

Jamie K., Newegg
6 June 2010
  • Summary: Don't hesitate.
  • Pros: My Girlfriend really loves me now. She is an avid reader. She loves the purse size, easy of use and the screen. She kissed me because it has MP3 player as well. I researched a lot on these before I bought this one. It has the best features and is not proprietary like kindles. Ever expandable, and...

Great Reader

Samuel M., Newegg
22 March 2010
  • Summary: If you're on the fence about ebook readers, hop off and get one of these. Well worth it.
  • Pros: Great little reader. Has been able to read anything I've thrown at it. Multiple font zoom levels make reading it easy on the eyes. I've had it a month, charged it when I got it and haven't had to plug it in since. The SD card slot means I can load tons of music and still have room for over 50 ebo...
  • Cons: Some pdf files have a bit of trouble. One graphics heavy book could not be zoomed on. Since it wasn't exactly a legitimate copy anyway, I'm not gonna complain.

An outstanding reader

Jivko D., Newegg
22 March 2010
  • Summary: Do not expect all of your books to be displayed the same as they are printed. Normal fiction is perfectly fine - I've selected higher size in low light (airplane) and was able to read no problems with my eyes not tired at all!
  • Pros: - excellent quality of the image, readable, contrast and clear - supports *many* formats - simple and easy UI - very ergonomic, you can scroll pages from left, bottom or right sides easily - comes with excellent case, 2GB SD card with 300 books, cables, strap, even headphones - I have compared it...
  • Cons: - something which is common for *ALL* readers (I've checked SONY personally, too): pretty clumsy PDF renderer. If you have a PDF book with diagrams and graphics, the default size of the screen (5") makes it almost impossible to read. On a 6" reader it's a little better, but still difficult and un...

Astak 5" EZ Reader Pocket Pro

Mary A., Newegg
24 February 2010
  • Summary: This is so easy to use I don't think I really care about being able to download books wirelessly directly to the reader. For the price this is a great eReader.
  • Pros: Great product. I love it. Easy to read print. Love having three different locations available to turn pages. Depending on where I am and what I am doing, I like having the option of using my right or left hand to change pages. The scroll wheel works great also. Downloading books is easy and fast....
  • Cons: Would like an easier way to sort books. A 6" readers with the same features as the 5" would be even better, but the 5" is great for carrying in your purse.

  • Pros: Great Resolution, Long Lasting Battery, Expandable, Very Portable, Can go to the library without physically being there!
  • Cons: Voice to mechanical.

Brilliant

Hudson A., Newegg
13 February 2010
  • Summary: This is the first review for any product I've ever written, either on newegg or am*zon, and I've bought a *lot* of things. Never have I felt so strongly about a product as to write something up for it. This thing is just friggan sweet.
  • Pros: - Fast - Great resolution for the size - DRM free! - Works just like a flash drive - Firmware updates that mean something - Great document type support - Battery life is the best I've ever seen. Haven't charged it since I got it about 2 weeks ago, and I haven't even done the shut down/startup lik...
  • Cons: The folder for adobe digital editions and also restore_pc continues to show up even after the latest firmware update. Apparently this is due to linux as the OS doesn't honor windows based "Hidden" tags. There's a workaround involving just naming your folders with a "-" Prefix, so keep that in min...

An Update

Alexey B., Newegg
22 January 2010
  • Summary: Overall I am really happy with this gizmo; it surves its purpose really well, and regular firmware updates give some hope that eventually they wil fix the zooming issues as well. As for the graphics part, I think it's hopeless - the processor is just not powerfull enough to handle the rendering.
  • Pros: Reads ALL the formats, including the compressed ones (zip/rar) Latest firmware has fixed the power leak; now I can use the Reader for month(s?) or so without recharging! SDHC!
  • Cons: Not so good for PDFs. Very slow for grafic rich files. I tried to read the Lonely Planet guides, and besides all the maps being scrambled, going through the content was real pain. Zooming the fonts in PDF can be unpredictable as well. Same goes to PowerPoint and to some extent MSWord files. Hence...

Versatile and Extremely Portable!

Elanor R., Newegg
21 January 2010
  • Summary: Purchased this so I would have something to read while flying and it fits that bill perfectly. Only annoying thing is that, unlike a paper book, you are asked to turn it off during takeoff and landing.
  • Pros: - Easy to read screen - SD Card Expansion - No DRM (not locked to a certain vendor) - Reads all sorts of formats - Battery Life is excellent - Can load and play music while reading - Great Color Choices!
  • Cons: - Battery drains quickly if you leave it in standby mode for too long without activity. For long breaks make sure to turn it off completely. - Slow to respond sometimes - Minimal musical controls - Has trouble with some formats (my experience epub and lit)

  • Summary: Love the soft, rubberized purple surface. Fits easily in a jacket pocket or purse-I read so much more now, on the go. Able to download library books too. Page turning buttons or toggle on right and left sides and along bottom make it easy to hold and turn pages in either hand.
  • Pros: Lightweight, small sized Very easy to read, on the eyes Comes with several accessories Excellent customer support Loooong battery life--weeks worth, or several books on one charge
  • Cons: None

Great E-reader

Adam B., Newegg
16 December 2009
  • Summary: I really enjoy my Ez Reader. I bought it on a whim as sort of a way to "test" the market to see if I would like it or not. I have been more pleased with it and find myself reading more on the device than I expected. I have used it to checkout books from my library as well.
  • Pros: -plays EVERYTHING -awesome customer support -good build quality
  • Cons: -none so far
