  • Summary: I got the kindle for my86 yr old dad, who hasnt received it yet!!. Its easy to use and to download books onto. I do love it. Great to be able to get a sample of books before you buy as well. For me its easier to look for books on the computer than get them on the kindle when I want. Fits easily into a handbag so easy to pull out anywhere.

One of the best inventions in the last 10 years

  • Excerpt: "...move around the book. The Amazon site has good support system and it only takes a few clicks on the site to buy or pre-order the book and less than a minute to download the book down to the kindle. I notice that nowadays, when a new book is released, the publisher tend to launch it in e-reader or hardback format. Paperbacks tend to come out 6 months later. With kindle, I can get the book the day(or even the early morning) that it is released. I ...

Gym distractions from Kindle

  • Excerpt: "...hold 3,500 books according to Amazon although we are unlikely to get anywhere near that amount, it also can download papers and blogs as well, the newspaper option is something I can see myself using at some point but I have yet to try it however it cannot be long before all papers online charge if the Times experiment is a success. What I was really amazed by is how quick the books download, I have used both the Kindle itself and also purchased ...

  • Conclusion: If all you want to do is read, this is the device for you, it is the best in class by far, however if web-browsing or multimedia is what you're after then you're better off going for an iPad or android tablet. However, backlit devices (such as tablets) will not be as easy to read off as the kindle for long periods.
  • Pros: Easy on the eyes, fast, lightweight, good battery life (on 3G). Web browser surprisingly good for e-ink.
  • Cons: Buttons are fiddly, operating system a little counter-intuitive in parts. Battery life horrible on wi-fi.

Kindle Likes and Dislikes

  • Excerpt: "...all i would recommend the amazon kindle 3G + wifi but i feel as if the 3G doesn't have much use. On possible use for it is checking emails in foreign countries but other than that wifi can be accessed in most places. Some maybe wary that the kindle only has about 3-4 gigabytes of space but this can store thousands of book and hundred of songs or a few audio books. Amazon is also very good at backing up their products with a warranty. Personally my ...

Amazon Kindle Keyboard 3G+Wi-Fi was an unexpected treat!

  • Excerpt: "...I recieved the Amazon Kindle as a graduation present from my mother and was surprised because I always said I would never use one and wouldn't like it at all. She must have known that I would change my opinion eventually. At first I was uncomfortable with how light it was, but that changed quickly when I realized how easy it was to prop it up for reading. I never had to worry about bending the pages back or having them continuously close on me when ...

  • Summary: I love reading & my jammed bookcases bare witness, which is why I bought the Kindle... to try & save space. It's slim & light, The calming grey screen is easy on the eye & the battery has a great lifespan when the wireless is turned off... & you only need it on to download your purchases. Kindle books tend to be a bit cheaper, despite having VAT added (normal books are VAT free) so the price of the device is soon recouped, especially if you're an avid reader.
  • Pros: Clear screen, good battery, physical keyboard, simple internet browser, cheaper books
  • Cons: Menu can be hard to navigate sometimes, screensavers a bit boring, not all the books I want available

Kindle = Kiddie

MALU, Ciao
25 October 2011
  • Excerpt: "...same day I read on Amazon that the prize had dropped by 40 Euro. 40 Euro! An old woman has to knit a lot for this as the Germans say or, translated into our sphere here, a ciaoer has to write a lot of reviews. I had thoroughly thought through the acquisition of a Kindle for months, why hadn’t I waited another week? One reason for my hesitation was that I found the price very high. One doesn’t just buy the naked gadget, one needs a cover, a clamp, ...
