Summary: I got this as a Christmas gift, and it is one of the most useful gifts I've ever received! It is absolutely a great bargain - no, not as flashy as the Fire, but not nearly as expensive either! And I love its lightweight, compact design - I have fibromyalgia, so that matters a great deal to me. And it can hold a TON of ebooks and MP3s - as I can attest to; I've loaded mine down with HOURS of entertainment material!
Summary: I bought this for my daughter. She likes the classics and has to have some of them for school, a lot of the classics she needs for school are free. Being light weight is very nice, her book bag gets way too heavy when she carries just the books for classes. Having hundreds of books on hand and not breaking her back makes this well worth the price.
A must buy for insatiable readers for an unbelievable price!

Summary: Comparing to similar products available such as tablets and more advanced ebook readers like Kindle Fire, this was a great purchase. I wanted it only for reading, so I didn't want to spend all that extra money for the frivolous features that the other possesses and plus, since it's way cheaper, I'm not afraid of taking it with me at ALL times in my bag.
Don't be afraid to get one old dogs can learn new tricks.

Summary: It holds 1400 books, the battery is good for a month. The main reason is because we travel and some of the libraries are so small that their is a waitimg list for amy new books or they have a limited amount of reading material. also I cam take it on vacation out of the country and still read. I was realkly surprise that the list of free books was so large. I will probably up grade later.
Summary: I LOVE my Kindle. It is so easy to use. My only regret is not having the keyboard. I like to use my Kindle at church as my Bible and it is too hard to search for a verse because you have to scroll all over the place. I have tried putting PDF files so I can teach right out of it. I put it on through the email option. It has to be the in the right format and I am still working on that. It would also be nice to be able to put notes in my reading with the keyboard.
Excerpt: I love my kindle for airplane rides. I don't necessarily want to carry a large book or a laptop so this is perfect for the frequent traveller. Also, having only digital copies of my books has stopped my friends from borrowing (and subsequently never returning!) my favorite stories. Could last a bit longer. The battery has given up on me mid-sentence before. Boo! Amazon's shop is great. Many choices. It never hurts my eyes. It's a great little machine.
Excerpt: If you want an e-reader, save some money, simple, not too complicated. This is for you. There are a few down falls. I'm just going to list these for you to make it easy. 1) you must have WI-FI and know how to set it up. If this is not you, opt for the 3G version which is about $50 more. 2) it is not back lit. Two remedies.. well 3. The 2 easiest, get a booklight or a kindle case with a light built in (some are very niceand about $30) Or check out the kindle paperwhite...
Kindle is easy to use (even for those who prefer printed books)

Excerpt: I owned an independent bookstore for 15 years and never expected yo own an E-reader. But I finally gave in and bought a basic Kindle on sale. I have to admit that it is easy to use. The best quality is the ability to carry multiple books in a ounces few ounces when traveling. The Kindle claims to have a month of battery life. HAH.
