  • Summary: The film is about a father moves his family to the country in order to rejuvenate a run-down Southern California zoo. I thought this movie might suck just because the title bought a zoo, and did it suck and it didn't. I enjoyed this movie. it had good acting and good story.

We Bought a Zoo review

Daniel Corleone, FilmCrave
5 October 2012
  • Excerpt: A newly widowed Benjamin Mee (Matt Damon) tries to forget the past by purchasing a house with a zoo. He does this to make his children, 7-year-old daughter, Rosie (Maggie Elizabeth Jones), and 14-year-old son, Dylan (Colin Ford) happy. Benjamin is assisted by Kelly (Scarlett Johansson), the head keeper. Damon solid as always in dramas while the gorgeous Johansson shows sincerity in her role. Wonderful soundtrack as always since it is the trademark from the director.

“Their happy is too loud.”

MovieAddict, FilmCrave
6 May 2012
  • Excerpt: “You know, sometimes all you need is twenty seconds of insane courage. Just literally twenty seconds of just embarrassing bravery. And I promise you, something great will come of it.” Matt Damon turns in a very excellent performance as a recently widowed father, who decides the family needs a change after the loss of their mother.

  • Summary: Pleasant enough but bland, innocuous and cliché ridden. The worst offender being a cheesy, non-ironic montage. Perfect tv movie style fare for a wet Wednesday afternoon but don't waste a Friday or Saturday evening with it.

  • Summary: This is one of the few films of 2012 where the screenplay actually worked and there were no loose ends or ambivalent subplots. Matt Damon gives one of the best performances of the year. Scarlett Johanssen as well. There are some exceptions within the cast but even with their over the top performances they cannot take away the essence of this film and it's story. This film is honest. This film is sincere. This film is real.

  • Summary: We Bought a Zoo is a movie for all the family and it is just to have a good time. The topic is peculiar, but not so attractive; and that happen because of the title, it tells you the main part of the plot and also it is not very catchy. But what seems a typical American story transform into an interesting conflict between a family that lost its pillar (the mother) who is struggling with its past, and this fight it can be notice in the desperate father, the misunderstood...

We Bought New Troubles

LeeAnn M., FilmCrave
4 April 2012
  • Excerpt: "We Bought a Zoo" is a movie of a young father relocating his two kids to the country for a fresh start six months after the wife and mother passes away. It just so happens that this perfect house in the country has an established zoo in the back yard. The younger girl is excited about the move, but the teenaged son has deep resentment over it. I heard critics liked it, but I thought it was preachy and melodramatic. It's not Matt Damon's best work.

We Bought a Zoo Movie Review

trophywife, FilmCrave
13 January 2012
  • Excerpt: Have you ever walked out of a movie theater and felt genuinely happy that you just saw a particular movie? I'm not talking about being thrilled that the movie was OVER--- heaven knows there's been enough of those experiences in my life. What I'm describing here is the feeling of being able to be entertained for 2 hours and feeling like your life is just a little bit better because of what you saw.
