Excerpt: Wow, still don't believe me? This is Zack Snyder's best film and one of the better comic book movie reboots to have been released thus far. Let's face it folks, the Superman franchise needed a good shot in the arm and who else but Snyder was good enough to do it? With Nolan as producer and Goyer as writer, I expected a decent film but nothing like I expected. Holy shit. Henry Cavill nails it as Superman.
Excerpt: The only reason this movie got two stars from me was because it has the character of Superman in it. I love the character of Superman and because of that I was able to make it through the two and a half hours of over stylized crap Zach Snyder filled this movie with. Not that it was all his fault there are a lot of other major issues wit things that happened in this movie. The death toll is incredibly high for a movie staring a character that saves people.
Excerpt: Okay, like I have mentioned many times in the past: I have humility. Almost five months after the release of Man of Steel, I decided to give it another watch to see if I maybe over-hyped myself or showed too much of my judgmental side. I took a much closer, less biased look at Man of Steel, and in conclusion: I am pleased. Don't get me wrong, Man of Steel is a very flawed movie.
Excerpt: "The world's too big...so make it small." Everybody knows the story of Superman, its matter of presenting it again on the big screen. It's funny how a ghost manages to do a lot, the love angle between Lois and Superman was rushed and it seems the battles of Superman with Zod dampens the welfare of humans. The length was prolonged due to details of special effects for the settings. Another observation was how dull this version of Lois Lane was depicted.
Excerpt: Steel stumbles to soar high. In fact he does do the job, provide some visual feast. But Snyder has placed overly bloated action to give a feeling that, it did not reach the sky. Yes the action is extravagant, the visual effects are dazzling, the fans get two good surprises, but all are put to bad use by super speed camera movements and the worst use of shaky 3D action. Shaky cams does not give any action scene an impact.
Excerpt: Superman is not Batman. In saying that I don’t mean that I think that Superman isn’t as good as Batman, but that I think Superman should not be treated the same way as Batman. I am not a huge comic book nerd, but from what I can tell Superman hasn’t changed nearly as much over the length of his existence as Batman has. Batman has become a very dark brooding character while Superman is closer to his golden age counter part; he’s more of a role-model type.
Summary: It was a good movie, no doubt. Though, I am a little disappointed. I wished it would've had more story development and a little less action toward the end of the movie. But all in all, it was a really good movie.
Excerpt: Man of Steel was a good quality movie. True, it was predictable. But let's face it, most superhero movies are. With a movie in a franchise as big as the Superman one, you can't win. Make it too like the comic book and people will be disappointed with the lack of variety in the movies. Vary the movie too much from the comic book and people will feel betrayed that their beloved comic book movie isn't exactly the same as their beloved comic book.
Excerpt: 'Man of Steel' is a much needed step above the disappointing 'Superman Returns'. For one thing, this re-boot is much faster paced and entertaining. Not a moment of screen time is wasted. The film swiftly covers large ground, in epic-scoped fashion. It is flashy, effects heavy and bombastic, but also thrilling and 'wow'-inducing in those aspects. There is enough spectacular action here to fill up two movies. It almost feels too much.
