Summary: Great fun story that spoofs action films, while playing a good action story. Some bits are a bit too depressing, but overall the tone is fun,and tight comic take with a some gentle and not-so-gentle ribbing of the genre. The casting is uniformly excellent in this.
Summary: Love this movie, Benedict is the best villain ever. Ripper is the second best villain ever (well, it's a tie between him and the wet bandits). This movie is so much fun, "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" and Last Action Hero and "Hook" are my magical childhood movies.
Summary: Last Action Hero is basically a film about Arnold Schwarzenegger doing what he does best in the world of Arnold Schwarzenegger- ducking from explosions, and using brute force to save the day. Nothing new.
Conclusion: The first film Arnold made after T2 and it got criticized quite allot because it wasn't as good which makes laugh. T2 was an exception and one of the greatest movies ever made so comparing this film to it is very unfair but I suppose they didn't realise that at the time. Last Action hero is just one big popcorn movie with lots action as you would have guessed and really fun characters.
A good fantasy action film with a good story that provides a lot of light entertainment

Excerpt: This movie stars Arnold Schwarzenegger, who plays a character in a movie within a movie here, who's name is Jack Slater and is a film hero to little Danny who keeps going to the movies to watch Jack Slater movies because he has nothing better to do. One night, the manager of the theatre, who has an early copy of the new Jack Slater film, gives him a ticket that's thought to be magical but Danny doesn't quite know to what extent until he settles down to watch Jack Slater...
Excerpt: So here we have a farewell to the darker, Terminator stuff of Arnie's earlier career; a tasteless, clumsy mix of action, comedy and satire; one of the biggest flops of 1993 and the 1990s in general. For all the things that people have labelled Last Action Hero down the years, however, I still can't bring myself to hate it. It's hardly amazing, I'll admit, but I'd still much rather watch this than half the action films that come out these days.
Excerpt: note: also appears in part on Flixster and The Student Room I still maintain that of all of Arnold Schwarzenegger's films, it is Last Action Hero that is the most criminally underrated - it was largely dismissed as a goofy actioner, but people fail to realise that it has its tongue firmly rooted in its cheek. Perhaps it defied expectations too harshly, but I thought it was a clever, self-aware satire of Arnie's previous work, with some hilarious gags and set pieces.
Conclusion: Okay not your typical Arnie Film, but still excellent to say the least. Brilliant concept of being transported into your fave movies with your fave actors! Great cast and a film you can watch over again, for £2.99 you can't go wrong! Buy!
