Quiet Quality

  • Summary: Realistic, gripping and very well acted. Better than most Hollywood war films. You are taken into the history and the absurdity and brutality of war, with intelligent acting and directing.

Slower than a snail

  • Summary: Interesting story, but so slow as to make watching paint dry seem exciting. In some scenes it looks like the camera man has fallen asleep.

The peace and tranquility of war

21 November 2013
  • Summary: In the Fog is a deeply serious, utterly humourless story of social and spiritual conflict. We are drawn into a moral debate as we accompany Sushenya, Voitik and Burov on their danger-fraught odyssey.

The reality of war

  • Summary: A beautiful, bewildering but utterly compelling film about the moral choices people have to make to survive in a war zone. The three principal actors are amazing. The bleak monotony of the landscape is central to the action. But you need to accept that the film is extremely and deliberately very slow. Whatever is the opposite of a thriller, this is it!

In the fog, I still am!

  • Summary: Hard to follow and depressing. Probably the slowest film I've ever watched. Subtitles as well. I won't be recommending this one.

Beautifully filmed but confusing and depressing

  • Summary: This film has a surprisingly light and pleasant colour palate - which is possibly deliberate to counter the subject material. The tale is dark, depressing and somewhat confusing. Each of the three main characters gets a back-story flashback - two of which I didn't think were really needed. Overall it is nice looking but it lacks a coherent storyline.
