Excerpt: I got lost in downtown L.A. once. Took the wrong offramp and spent nearly a solid hour cruising around in circles, past the run down mercados, liquor stores, porno shops and such, marveling at how colorfully terrible it all was. It’s a place that never empties, not even in the wee small hours of the morning. There’s always alleys full of homeless and/or junkies, corners full of hookers and various assorted and sundry wandering about.
Summary: There were some ideas in here that could have been refreshing. I even wanted to give this a better review than I did, but alas, I simply couldn’t. Plain and simple, the rough edges and gaps of logic are not mended and I am left frustrated with this soon to be forgotten piece.
Excerpt: When a group of misfits get together for a nighttime game of cards in a Los Angeles liquor store, little do they realize they're locked in with a notorious serial killer, who happens to prey on people who hang out in liquor stores. Will any of these freaks make it until dawn?
