  • Summary: It throws in every medieval cliche: witches, flagellates, torture devices, crucifixion, lots of stabbing and cutting - yet for all the blood and flowery language, it was a pretty tepid film. Unless you're in the mood for straight-up violence, best to avoid.

Dead from the start, even Bean cannot save this poor tale.

  • Summary: A disappointingly ungraphic, low rate British tale. There is little action, wooden amateur acting and a painfully dull story within this. Sean Bean does his best to lead a lagging horse of a b-film, with his usual on screen presence, but this film fails to be anything but poor.

A good film that keeps you guessing.

  • Excerpt: When you see the trailer to this movie, sadly, you don't have to see no more. So, if you expect a good history mystery, don't. Beside the elements, and just elements, of mystery it's a movie with a very predictable plot about an estranged monk, a vengefull knight and a pale maiden who just happens...

Not what I'd hoped for

Play.com Reviewer, Rakuten
3 February 2011
  • Summary: Having just finished watching the complete series of Sharpe dvd's and being a big Sean Bean fan, I thought I'd give this a try. Found it to be a well made movie with a quite interesting theme. It's pretty gory in places and Bean is well cast.
