Summary: It throws in every medieval cliche: witches, flagellates, torture devices, crucifixion, lots of stabbing and cutting - yet for all the blood and flowery language, it was a pretty tepid film. Unless you're in the mood for straight-up violence, best to avoid.

Excerpt: Eddie Redmayne is Osmund the monk, tasked with finding out why a small village is apparently untouched by the Black Death which is ravaging Europe. He is accompanied by Sean Bean's Ulrich and his rough band of crusaders. The protagonists are well acted, having several shades of grey in their personalities and conflicts. Tim McInnery did well in a serious role, it took a few scenes with him in to get over thinking of him in terms of his idiotic Blackadder character.
Excerpt: When you see the trailer to this movie, sadly, you don't have to see no more. So, if you expect a good history mystery, don't. Beside the elements, and just elements, of mystery it's a movie with a very predictable plot about an estranged monk, a vengefull knight and a pale maiden who just happens to be a witch. "Black death" (2010.), drama/horror Director: Christopher Smith Actors: Sean Bean.....Ulric Eddie Redmayne......Osmund Kimberley Nixon.......

Excerpt: England 1342, the land is ravaged by plague, the infamous Black Death. Cities, towns and villages are decimated by the horrific disease. In desperation the people look for answers, is the plague divine retribution for the sins of the world? Is it some dastardly plot hatched by their fiercest enemy the French or are there darker more sinister forces at work?
Conclusion: Having just finished watching the complete series of Sharpe dvd's and being a big Sean Bean fan, I thought I'd give this a try. Found it to be a well made movie with a quite interesting theme. It's pretty gory in places and Bean is well cast. However, I found it very predictable and the very end was just naff. Not a keeper for me.
Conclusion: For me director Christopher Smith can do no wrong, this is the 4th main feature he has made after the brilliant Creep, Severance and Triangle. Black Death is a little different from past movies but still has a great story, a good cast and some great gory moments that his movies are good for! If your a fan of the above films and enjoy his work then be sure to check this out.
Conclusion: i have to say i was abit excited about this film but then i saw this epic film i wanted more. i think that having sean bean in this role, he was made for it. if u ever thinking of getting a good film. get this .
