Summary: The story is about Six Americans are hiding out at the Canadian Embassy as the Iranian revolution reaches critical mass. It's up to a CIA agent who specialized in "exfiltration" to get the Americans to safety with a risky escape plan. the title of this movie Argo sound's a bit like the movie Hugo.
Excerpt: Iranian revolution explodes and six Americans managed to escape from their embassy and hid themselves at the Canadian Embassy. Soon, the Iranian authorities will figure out about this escaped Americans. Now, a CIA agent has to get them out, by faking a film production. *** Wow! REALLY WOW!
Excerpt: A CIA hostage extraction specialist is called in to retrieve six US Embassy workers hiding out in the Canadian consulate in Iran after the civil uprising of 1979. Argo reminded me very much of The Bank Job, a British heist movie from a few years ago starring Jason Statham.
Excerpt: Directed by Ben Affleck Starring Ben Affleck, Alan Arkin 4/4 Iran hostage crisis, the main concept of argo (A fake space film) takes the best of it and Affleck hammers the viewers with wit, energy and temperament. It swivels around like a spinning top, tied to a long rope.
Summary: Argo has been sweeping up awards over the past couple of months, and it seems to be the lock for Best Picture. While I do think it is a good film, it's still nothing extraordinary. Just a simple story told well, both entertaining and informative. I can see why mainstream audiences would like it.
Excerpt: Ben Affleck is three for three in directing effective, tense, and revealing films. Argo is his latest effective creation, a film steeped in history that thoroughly immerses the audience into an era of tense politics and suspicions.
Excerpt: I had a feeling upon seeing the first trailer for Ben Affleck's 'Argo' mostly due to the story within as i remember as a child still to this day watching in anticipation to the news chanel as the 6 hostages were escaping the iron grip of the country Iran.
Summary: As of 11-26-12 my favorite film of the year. Most people going into this will probably know the story, although I consider myself quite the history buff, I did not know this part of the Iranian hostage story.
