Summary: I have to admit, I was expecting a bit more - the performances, for the most part, didn't wow me (though Jeremy Renner was a standout and Amy Adams - side boob and all - was excellent), but even with that letdown, American Hustle works because it really does transport you. The hair, the clothing, the music - it is all perfect and even if the story isn't "true" - it has enough element of reality to make it worth your time.
Summary: It's appropriate that partying has a lot to do with the plot of American Hustle since it often feels like that one guest who overstays their welcome. It's still pretty good but it is longer than it should be and some plot threads remain unresolved despite the smugness of the script in the end. Jennifer Lawrence is not in it as much as the trailers implied but she easily gives the best performance. Amy Adams does a good job, mostly at being so dam sexy!
Excerpt: A pair of con artists are blackmailed into helping the FBI entrap corrupt politicians or face jail. David O. Russell's long con comedy drama was very well received upon its release and fans of Martin Scorsese will no doubt see his influence throughout the film. It has the flavour of a PG rated version of Casino as these amoral hustlers try to out manoeuvre each other while staying one step ahead of the organised criminals they are charged with duping.
Excerpt: I really enjoyed this movie. The story was fun but the acting, music and costumes made the movie. Every actor in this movie was phenomenal and they all earned every acting nomination they got and more. The music and the costumes were great and made the movie fun to listen to and watch. The story got a little slow in a few places but the amazing acting and great costumes kept thing interesting at those parts.
Summary: The costumes and props are highly enjoyable, and the female performances not bad. The biggest hole in the movie is Bale, who doesn't even convince me as a schlub from the Bronx, let alone as a con artist slick enough to convince people he's anything else. The script suggests that the character has the kind of charisma that makes people want to do whatever he says, but for me at least, it never translated to the screen.
Summary: Very good. Every single actor did an outstanding job with their role. Amy Adams just wow! Bradley Cooper acts on a whole new level I haven't seen before. Jennifer Lawrence, amazing as always. Christian Bale is outstanding. Highly recommend. It's a drama. There are some humorous parts. It shows the reasoning behind con artist while telling a story.
Excerpt: about a conman and woman who get caught and are forced to set up others to avoid prison. Brilliant cast. This is what i call actors film, as its all about the acting and screenplay. When it comes to who is the best actor robert de nero usually gets mentioned but christian bale again proves here why he is one if not the best actor, de nero also has a tiny part in this movie. bradley cooper is great another actor who is getitng better and better.
Excerpt: I never would have thought the strength of this movie would be so difficult to explain. It is uncandidly inherent, in other words: you know that subjective feeling it provides when you watch it. It either bores you or grabs you and rattles you, and I am glad to report that it did just the latter, constantly. The scope of this movie is divided between its characters. We start at one hilarious person and go to the next.
Summary: This movie feels like a reunion of David O. Russell's old films.american Hustle. this movie has a great acting and the soundtrack for this movie was brilliant but the movie does slow down at some parts.and this movie will get a 3 and a half out of 4 star's "David O.
Excerpt: “Some of this actually happened.” From this first inter-title, David O. Russell’s new crime comedy-drama American Hustle(2013) promised two and a half hours of the twisted, the practically anarchic, but most especially, the absolutely absurd - and in the best way possible. Despite its late arrival to the Oscar scene (along with Scorsese’s Wolf of Wall Street) and its being overshadowed by Steve McQueen’s long-awaited 12 Years a Slave, American Hustle proves worthy of...
