  • Summary: This movie was like a crappy video game with long cut scenes. 13-year-old son, Kitai. Yet an encounter with an asteroid storm forces the father and son to crash-land on the now-unknown Earth - and as General Raige lays injured, and their rescue beacon lost, Kitai will have to become the warrior he's always wanted in order to save both his and his father's lives. Okay M.

A film with no soul

  • Excerpt: Here is the first scum bag collection of mine in 2013. Night Shyamalan (who gave us a bold Sixth Sense) has given up. His world of futuristic earth lacks compulsion. Shyamalan’s work looks easily the worst here. Will Smith’s story is more like a charred up plastic. So what’s it all about ? A ship that gets damaged, and has two lonely survivors (hard to believe) Smith and Jade (father son) caught in earth.

We've seen the best on its trailer

Rod, FilmCrave
22 August 2013
  • Excerpt: Set in a time when Earth is an unfamiliar and dangerous place as humans moved to Nova Prime (mankind's new home), a father and his son found themselves in an adventure challenging their personal relationships and their duties to humanity. *** DISAPPOINTED. The movie was very promising yet nothing happened. I did not feel the climax, I did not feel any thrill.

After Earth review

Daniel Corleone, FilmCrave
27 June 2013
  • Excerpt: General Cypher Raige (Will Smith) and son Kitai (Jaden Smith) are having conflicts at home. The good points of the film were the special effects and acting of Jaden Smith. In this reviewer's opinion, this was a training ground for Jaden to further enhance his acting skills, dueling with his popular dad and some CGI effects. Now for the bad, this felt like a cheap imitation/cross between Star Trek and Chronicles of Riddick.

  • Summary: This movie was horribly predictable. The setting was cool and there were some parts that i liked, but overall it was boring, could've been much better.. at the end it felt like a waste of time, you're not missing anything if you don't see it.

A Mildly Entertaining Waste of Time

Looneymanthegreat, FilmCrave
14 June 2013
  • Excerpt: Shyamalan’s is one of the most hated movie directors of all time. Not because he’s really all that bad, but because he was set-up to be great and failed. His movies became obsessed with twists instead of the characters and atmosphere, the real reasons The Sixth Sense was so good. After Earth was based on a story written by Will Smith, not Shyamalan’s, so (spoilers) there is no real twist.

After Earth

  • Excerpt: After Earth (2013) PG-13 Due to some cataclysmic events, Earth was abandoned over 1000 years ago. Cypher Raige (Will Smith) leads a crew on a training mission, when he and his son, Kitai (Jaden Smith), are the sole survivors of a crash landing. The planet they land on is Earth, and now father and son must team up to survive a world populated by dangerous, wild animals. Let me first say that the CGI (the computerized special effects) in this film are horrible.

Two Smiths Aren't Better Than One

Chris Kavan, FilmCrave
1 June 2013
  • Excerpt: The problem with films that become a "passion project" is that while it may be the greatest thing ever in the eyes of the creator(s) but when the final product is released, the audience will probably not be as invested. For Will Smith, I think this is what happened - he had a vision and maybe that vision was even realized, but in the end, while After Earth is far from a disaster, it's also not going to be one of those films you're going to want to watch more than once...

After Earth

  • Summary: Ja, denne film er så dårlig som mange anmeldere har sagt, dette skyldes mest Jayden, der på ingen måde er blevet en bedre skuespiller af at have sin far ved sin side.
