1080p is 1080p and HD DVD still works

Sean T., Newegg
4 March 2008
  • Summary: As stated in the previous review, unfortunately, HD DVD has been discontinued by Toshiba. At the very latest, the last new movies will be coming out in May. After that, there is no official software support for the format . . . only Toshiba's continued hardware support.
  • Pros: A 100% complete product that delivered everything promised from day 1, unlike its Bluray competition which is still working to complete it's "final" profile 2.0 (to put next to 1.0 and 1.1 - don't know the difference? You should before you decide to buy Bluray). Although people are trying to now ...
  • Cons: None.

I decided to go high-end

Matthew F., Newegg
10 December 2007
  • Summary: if you want to save $100.00, get the HD-A30.. you'll still get 1080P. but if you want the flagship model, then go for it. THE SHINING and HEROES season one look awesome on HD-DVD. For now, I'm sticking with HD-DVD. Be honest with yourself..
  • Pros: JUST WHAT I EXPECTED. JUST ABOUT EVERY POSSIBLE FEATURE YOU COULD WANT... 1080P, 24P COMPATIBLE, GREAT UPCONVERTING. interactive internet featues SOLID DESIGN.
  • Cons: THE ONLY THING IT'S MISSING IS divX certification. but.. no HI-DEF player (HD-DVD or Blu-Ray) has that yet.
