Toshiba DVR670

Terrance S., Newegg
31 March 2012
  • Pros: The whole unit worked great in the beginning. The DVD player and recorder has always worked fine.
  • Cons: After a few months the VCR would make a loud noise like gears stripping when you tried to take the VHS casette out. Then it would stop in the middle of a recording. Finally now it won't record well and starts and stops. I am very disappointed in this product.

Avoid Toshiba like the Plague!

Gerald C., Newegg
29 October 2011
  • Summary: Regarding NewEgg and their Return/RMA policy: I can only say that if Newegg is aware that they are selling such inferior items or brands, they should not be selling them until that company improves their quality standards.
  • Pros: Works great when it works. It really sucks big time when to don't!
  • Cons: I can only confirm what other buyers here already complained of. Toshiba products are very short lived. I owned this unit for just over three (3) months when it decided to simply stop working. I now have a useless boat anchor that only shows flashing front panel lights when plugged in. Previously...

Works Great But...

Beverlee W., Newegg
19 September 2011
  • Summary: Make sure you try ALL the functions as soon as you get the unit to make sure they work properly. Get an extended warranty/service agreement.
  • Pros: Item works wonderfully and is simple to set up and use. I copy favorite TV shows to DVD for my grandkids, and others for myself.
  • Cons: I am on my third one of these in 6 years. The first one stopped after about 15 months, the second in less than a year. Since it is the only brand I have been able to find that will burn DVDs as well as play them, I keep buying it, but you should consider the extended warranty/service agreement. I...

Great archiving system!

Allen R., Newegg
19 February 2011
  • Summary: I bought Sony DVD+RW's and it allows the highest functionality. In SLP mode, I can fit 8 hours on one disc. I have tested the discs in my other playback devices, and they play flawlessly, and even come with a basic menu.
  • Pros: The UI is very responsive and simple to use. We have plenty of VHS/input devices we need to backup. My girlfriend is taking right to it. If you can use a VCR you can use this! I have used the component inputs, and the RCA inputs, and they both work great. I love the quick record functions where y...
  • Cons: It was more than I wanted to spend, but I went for it. Worth it. The only way this could be better is if they added wireless or RJ-45 port for internet connectivity. Being able to control this device remotely would be the bee's knees, legs, and arms.

Great Product

brian r., Newegg
19 January 2011
  • Summary: This is a stellar product. If your looking for an all in one device that does almost everything, this is it! I purchased this one for the QAM channels that I am able to get through Time Warner at no cost! That's right, free HD TV without messing with antennas.
  • Pros: Supports ATSC / NTSC and QAM! Upscales DVD to 1080P and "1080i". Easy to operate, manual is well written. Multiple inputs and outputs like Component and HDMI. Allows you to connect other devices and display them through the HD output. Support Divx video on DVD.
  • Cons: No volume button on the remote, and no DVD-DL support.

John W., Newegg
6 December 2010
  • Summary: Thought dvr was so good I recommended it to my father. He bought one from newegg also. His died 3 weeks out of warranty. This in no way newegg's fault. I have been a customer for years. Customer service and shipping of items has been flawless.
  • Pros: Works great for first year
  • Cons: My dvr broke down 2 weeks after warranty was up. Toshiba said you are out of luck nothing we can do for you. Putting Toshiba on my list as a brand I will not buy.

  • Summary: Wish Blue ray recorders are here. have heard that you do not have to wipe out the whole disc to record again.
  • Pros: Solid reliable DVD recorder. Nothing wrong since I bought it from NewEgg. Was 199.99 with free shipping. Up by 15 dollars because of fall of the dollar. Nice features. Have not learned all of them ,yet.
  • Cons: Slow start up
