  • Summary: its getting cheap now. probably ok for a stand alone unit

A reason performance but poor user interface

Long Y., Newegg

  • Summary: Having this unit for 2 weeks, my feeling with this machine is mixed. I have a HDTV tuner and connect it via S-video to record OTA HDTV broadcast. Since the signal is down converted to SDTV signal, you wouldn’t expect to see great images.
  • Pros: Toshiba DVD recorder D-R5 does it promised to do. But, its user interface is clumsy and the manual is not well organized and not very helpful.

  • Pros: I don't see a whole lot of pro's except perhaps the specs.
  • Cons: The RF-Coax is a straight pass through. I still can't figure out why it is even included...can't use it!!!?? The one major issue I have with this is that when you watch a DVD and want to stop and go back to TV (Satalite), you must go back to "input" and change it to the type of connection you are...
