Summary: I bought this for the VCR recording and no where did it say it has to be used with a cable box only. There is no way to set the channel you would like to record without the box. Since I don't have a cable box, this product is no good for me. I wish i would have known that before as I certainly would not have purchased it. Now I have to go to the expense of sending it back.
Summary: I purchased this DVD/VCR to replace an exact model which was destroyed when our
house was struck by lightening and burned out some electric wiring. (We were
lucky the house did not catch fire!). Anyway, I was very satisfied with this
model which enabled me to use my collection of DVD's and VCR tapes. Easy to
understand and use for a senior citizen!! Great price from Amazon.
Summary: I already had this very same VCR/DVD and loved it so much that I bought another one. VCR's are hard to come by in the stores and online and when I saw this one I purchased it immediately. It's easy to operate. You can set the VCR to record up to 7 programs and if you're a soap opera fanatic like I am you can set it for Mon-Fri forever and forget about it. I also watch DVD movies on it and it's an excellent DVD player. All in all, for the money, it's a GREAT buy.
Summary: Delivery & service from Overstock were speedy & hassle-free. I really only bought this to watch videos & maybe record shows. The vcr plays great, no problems yet. I haven't been able to record shows, but I think it's due to the tv/vcr connection...still haven't figured it out. It's recording, but not what's on the screen. Point being: it does record easily, I just need a different tv set up. (In other words, the channel setting or something probably wasn't right..
Summary: I received this as a gift, else I myself would have been more careful what I was buying.
First, if you do not have an external Cable Box(Tuner) you will not be able to Record with this DVD/VCR Player, since it has NO TUNER. Some TVs have a Video Out you can use as a Record IN to this Player, but not many. And even if your TV does, your TV has to be on and selected to the channel and program you want to record, so you have to be right there at the time of the program.
Summary: After much trial and error and unhelpful instructions I called Sylvania customer service to inquire how to record. I was told that my television needed a "video out" jack to connect to the VCR". I explained my television didn't have a "video out' jack to which the customer service rep replied; "most don't, you'll need to get a cable box to connect the two.
Summary: the product is fine now that I finally have what I ordered. The company I purchased it from leaves a lot to be desired(Electronic Express)They sent the wrong product and then I had to spend $7.00 from my fixed income to return their mistake. Not happy..
