Summary: Comments about Sony RDR-VX560 DVD/VCR Combo: When you look at the titles that you have recorded u would be amazed with the professional quality and presentation of the recorded movie or show; it plays the movie even though you are just scanning the different title video that you have recorded; I highly recommend this DVD recorder to anybody; you would not regret it.
Pros: Attractive Design, Fast Recording, Fast Setup, Simple Controls
"Exteremely Difficult to setup to home theater system"
23 November 2009
Pros: It is easy to record DVDS from comcast cable box. It does play DVD and VHS tapes easily.
Cons: Can't work the box without the remote, the remote is not programmed to be used with the unit, you have to figure out the complex command mode option on the remote to get into the system setup screen. Major pain!
Pros: USB input, all DVD formats, versatile Great for recording, USB input is unique to sony as far as I can find. Title feature is great. I use it for record only now and use a Panasonic bluray for DVD playback.
Cons: Occasionally freezes on playback of commercial DVD's, apparently RDR-VX535 has the same problem, no fix from sony to my knowledge.
Pros: multiple inputs, plays all formats of DVD. Very easy one-touch dubbing from DVD to VCR and vice-versa. No tuner makes it simple and an easy pass-through for home theater installation. Remote is full function, yet intuitively marked.
Cons: Maybe I'm old school, but there's no advanced search/program features on the VCR side. My old Sony VCR could be programmed for a NASA launch.
Summary: This model is extremely easy to use. I was able to make a dvd copy of an old vhs tape in afew minutes by pressing a single button !! I purposely bought this product because it has no tuner, I am afraid of complicated products and this omission simplified the machine alot. I simply wanted a dvd/vhs player which would allow me to play a dvd or a vhs tape, or make copies of old home movies currently on vhs tapes and this machine fit the bill perfectly.
Pros: Easy to use, records as well as plays
Cons: Front panel DV and USB inputs only work with certain late model Sony products, other manufacturers products do not seem to be recognized.
