Summary: Currently priced around: £280 - £300 ( August 2006) Although the 80GB hard drive may be a little small for most users, this does not incur a problem asmost programs you can watch and afterwards erase. The Song RDR-HX510S incorporates a range of features including 'Chasing Playback' which allows the viewer to watch a show from the beginning whilst it is being recorded. Overall this machine is easy to use and has the fantastic picture quality expected of a sony unit.
Summary: This model is clearly quality. Since the recordable DVD players overtook the VHS market, people have been looking for a solid replacement to their VHS. In this model i believe they have found it. Affordable in comparison to other models, this player is clearly one of the best available. It delivers a strong sense of reliablity to the customer. With a hard disk space of 80 Gb, this player can store a massive amount of television programmmes, for example.
Excerpt: "Sony RDR-HX510 ============== After much research I had narrowed down the selection to 2 products - 1 from Panasonic and this 1 from Sony. Both were similarly priced when I bought the Sony RDR-HX510 at £320. There was not much in it when quality was compared, but the clincher was compatibility - I have mostly Sony everything so I reasoned that it was more likely to work well with own brand then competitor brands. What's in the Box? ----------------------- Recorder ...
Excerpt: "...time, and came across the Sony RDR-HX510, which seemed to have all the features I needed and good write ups. On receiving it, it was easy to setup and I connected my freeview box without problems. The initial setup wizard is straightforward and easy to follow. The Sony RDR-HX510 is very easy to use, navigating to saved programmes and around the menu is extremely straightforward. There are many different quality settings that you can record ...
Pros: Wide range of features/formats, read + record to HDD/DVD simultaneously
Excerpt: "...VHS and Betamax). The Sony offers the ability to record and read pretty much every format available at the moment. It will allow recording to DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW/DL. It wont record DVD-RAM, but that was of limited concern to me. It also has an 80GB hard disk drive for recording without having to actually use a DVD disc. At DVD quality, this equates to approximately 17 hours of recording, though this can be signicantly increased by reducing the recording ...
