Excerpt: Sadly total rubbish. Problems start when you find it is not a Sony, but an LG unit made for Sony. Now why would I pay the premium for Sony if I wanted an LG??? Frankly this would not matter if it actually worked. First failed after 1 month, second after 18 months. Just bought a Panasonic DMREZ27 which cost less (with 5 year warranty), works better and appears to be made by Panasonic. Absolutely gutted that Sony would do this, gone from lifelong Sony fan to never again.
Pros: None that I can see, other than it is no longer made
Excerpt: A good looking and reasonably small model which suited our needs perfectly. The recorder is easy to set up and connect with an easy to follow manual and auto set up features. The ability to record in dual format is very handy as i never buy the same discs each time and just get what is cheapest in front of me. This model also offers a wide range of compatible playback options including our 8cm dvds from our camcorder.
Excerpt: Within 3 months we had a major failure of the disc drive. The repair took 28 days to be acheived. The staff at the local Sony Centre were disinterested and unhelpful (Brighton Western Rd). Up to this point our household had been brand loyal to Sony for 26 years but now our confidence is badly shaken. Since then, the repaired DVD records successfully most of the time, but fails enough times to be annoying and disappointing when a favourite episode is not recorded.
Pros: Very good to be able to store programmes on dvd
Excerpt: My good lady brought this home a couple of months ago to replace our aging VCR and DVD player and I was sceptical to say the least. The cost at retail varies between £140 and £180 so shop around. We got it cheaper because of where the other half works, but even at full price it still represents good value for money. The pro's of this unit are obvious.
Pros: Compatible with DVD + / - R/RW and MP3, looks good, easy to use .
Excerpt: Good points: the Sony RDR-GX 210 S is easy to use very basic, and all the controls are normal, it has good sound quality and image quality. Bad points: makes a lot of noise when loading a DVD (sounds like a fighter jet setting off), I have been having difficulties with the open and close slot it has a mind of its own : ), the Sony RDR-GX 210 S worked well for the first few days then I started noticing faults with the LCD display.
Excerpt: This DVD recorder is excellent value for money, especially considering the huge range of features included. You will be hard pushed to find one with as many features at such a low price. I have had no previous experience with DVD recorders, or video recorders, come to that, but I have quickly got the hang of recording from the TV, the Freeview box and dubbing from our DV camera with the iLink on the front of the recorder (so you don't have to go poking about behind the...
Pros: Records in multi formats, high quality, low price
Cons: Takes a few seconds before it is ready to record, otheriwse its great
