    For those on a limited budget or who do not own an HDTV, it's hard to find a better basic DVD player than Sony's DVP-SR200P/B. Most reports say that playback is solid. Reviewers particularly like the player's ability to play discs in less than perfect condition. While this cheap Sony DVD player can't upscale standard DVDs to match the higher resolution of an HDTV, it can output video in a progressive format for compatible TVs. Read more

    Picture and sound quality also gets a perfect 10. One of the best things about the DVD player is that the picture comes in very good, clear and just downright great, so as you can tell I am very impressed with the picture quality but the sound quality is also excellent and just as great as the picture quality. The images are very vibrant and the DVD player actually has technology that makes images come out perfect and I think the technology does wonders. Read more

    We purchased this inexpensive DVD player for our toddler's room, to play her favorite cartoon DVDs on. This product plays DVDs well, but don't expect a quick response from the remote or any of the buttons you press directly on the hardware. I usually have to press a button hard or twice to get it to respond. Also, the player itself is loud, as you can hear the internal mechanisms working. Read more or see product

    This product is not worth the Sony name nor your hard-earned money! I should have bought a Magnavox . . . I was suckered in by the Sony branding! Read more

    • Simple, basic, plays DVDs well; including disks burned on a computer.
    • Freezes after a couple of hours of play time. And now after a mere 3 months of use, the disks won't load! The disk tray is caught in a continuous loop of open and close.

    Terrible product- even worse technical support- Sony has an exchange program. They were not helpful in expediting my exchange. The excuse was a computer glitch that was ongoing for 10 days- not in this day and age. I was very disappointed in there response and still don't have resolution to my problem which was supposed to be an exchange. Would not reccomend this product or any Sony product in the future.     If you use an HDTV and don't want to go with Blu-Ray (with all its frequent glitches and unnecessary features), you might want to go with the upscaling Sony DVP-SR500H, which looks brilliant. Upscaling with HDMI also finally provides a 1:1 pixel ratio so not only is the picture much crisper but it increases picture info at the edges by eliminating overscan (with the player in 16:9 and "normal" mode and the TV aspect ratio at "normal.).     The price nd the quality could not be matched. These two products worked Flawlessly and were the perfect replacement for my older 90's vintage DVD players. The compact size and ability to played all formats of DVD's made this the best choice. I highly recommnd this for those who are on the fence about "refurbished" electronics. Read more

    I received my dvd player in the mail today. I decided to test this machine out before i gave it as a xmas gift and i'm so glad i did or i would have been extremely embarrassed. I put in a standard dvd in the dvd player and it played for 12 mins before the machine froze up. I then had to unplug the machine and wait 10mins before plugging it back in. I decided to try another dvd which only worked for 2 secs before it froze again. Read more

    • Gorgeous picture, sensible audio options, flexible adjustments, user-friendly. Seems to play any disc. Very cost-effective.
    • Won't play foreign discs, no "eject" on remote.
