Sure, it plays DVDs good, but don't lose your remote

Summary: Yep, it plays my DVDs quite well. But if you lose your remote control, don't expect to play jack on this unit. Only buttons on the actual unit are Eject, Play and Stop. The Play button didn't respond to over half my movies so always required the remote. The remote was a victim of young kids so now doesn't work. Now I can't watch crap.
Summary: I compared the picture my Panasonic dvd player connected with component cables to the picture this sony upconvert dvd player with an hdmi cord and although my old dvd player did an ok job this one was considerably better. I recomment to everyone and anyone who has dvds and an hdtv. If i had to be picky i could say that I bought this used and it didn't come with a remote but most people would have a universal remote, as do I, so not a real problem.
Not reliable, Warranty is 3 month, not 1 year. Expensive to repair

Summary: Product is not reliable. Had this unit for 4 months only and seldom used since we have several DVD players around the house. Recently every DVD movie played within the unit looked greenish. The same DVD played in other units looked normal in other DVD players in our home. It does not have full 1 year warranty as I thought it had. The warranty is tricky, the 1 year warranty is a limited warranty. Sony Customer service told me the 1 year limited warranty is only for parts.
Summary: When watching an anamorphic widescreen DVD, you need to use the zoom button on the remote to get the video to fill the screen. But there is a bright blue "X2" magnifying glass icon on the top right of the screen that will not go away. It is very distracting and there is no on-screen display OFF setting. Google "dvp-ns77h zoom icon" for more on this problem and no resolution from Sony.
Summary: More and more of these players are being made like they're disposable! Had this for about 7 months when the "loading" flashing began and a month later it wouldn't play anything at all. A waste of money.
Summary: I was looking for a nice upconverter to use with my new HDTV and I came across this one. I love it. It plays pretty much everything you can think of, including dual layer burned DVDs. The upconverting isn't going to be Blu-Ray quality obviously, but it definitely enhances the picture quality. Great product!
