Pardon my ignorance. I have the above listed Sony player. I ordered a DVD from a European company and received the following message from them: "Our DVDs are region 0 (global), however, as with our VHS tapes, they are also PAL format and you probably require NTSC." Will this DVD play in my Sony? Thank you. :^) Erik
Current hookup: Sony DVP-NS77H to Sony KDF-50WE655 HDTV using the HDMI cable for both video and audio; Sony KDF-50WE655 to Yamaha RX-V457 AV receiver using TOS-link optical cable. The receiver has two TOS-link inputs, and the other is being used for the soundcard on my computer. When I opt for DTS sound, I get nothing. Do I need to connect the DVD player directly to the AV receiver with a TOS-link (or digital co-ax) to enable the DTS?
However, this unit WILL play DVD-Audio (and quite nicely), though there's no mention of it in the Sony literature or other info I've reviewed.
