Great player, my all time favorite Sony DVD player
16 October 2010
Summary: Very good picture quality. Great feature set. Nice remote. I have 4 of these DVD players and they are great. If you only want to play DVDs get something like this, not a BR player which will be slower and lack many of the features found on this player. Plus the picture quality of this player will blow most BR players out of the water, other than maybe a Oppo BDP-83 or 93. It tied the Oppo 80 BR player which I had for a while.
Summary: Very disappointed with the product and the "warranty". Purchased from Tiger Direct through Amazon mid-April. HDMI port failed 3 weeks later. Unit will not sync with my new Bravia TV per Tiger Directs description. Company is making me go through Sony for repair. Will NEVER buy from them again!
Summary: Just like some other review it worked exactly one year just enough for warranty to expire and then stopped recognizing disc. Moreover it can not play discs from different regions rather than the U.S.
Summary: The player is a great improvement over standard DVD players with analog feeds. DVDs played with a picture quality rivaling HDTV. However, the unit is kaput after one year of occasional service.
Summary: Must agree with all the positive reviews on this item. I got the refurbished version for about $55 and couldn't be happier. We plugged this baby in to the back of our 40 inch LCD TV using the HDMI Interface and it just works !! I have nothing but positive to say about this DVD Player.
Summary: To be honest, I haven't used this DVD player a lot since I bought it,so I can't really judge it's durability. The problem is not with the player or the TV; it's just that I haven't been able to find many DVDs recently that I felt were worth renting! When I have used this DVD player, it performed flawlessly.
Summary: I chose Sony because of their great reputation well maybe I just got a lemon but I am not happy with their warranty either. After about 3-4 months it would randomly have no picture or sound I turned it off and back on and usually that would work. At 8 months it wouldn't work at all. I got this as a gift for Christmas last year (I picked it out on my wish list) and it worked till August :( According to Sonys website I could exchange it for a refurbished unit at a cost of...
Summary: Sony DVP-NS700H I've had this unit for 6 months and playback intermittently freezes during movies. The only way to free it up is to power off the unit. It does this on multiple DVD's so the unit is malfunctioning. The Sony warranty is 90 days labor and 1 year parts so they are willing to exchange with a refurbished unit at a cost of $33 plus your cost to ship to them. This is not cost effective since you can buy a newer model on Amazon for approx. $60.
