Summary: I bought this DVD player at a local appliance store for a promotion when major electronics retailers were selling it for $149.99 back in the day. I paid $79.99 and I probably watched 2,000 DVD's over the 7+ years I owned it. I played movies, paused them, turned my player on, then off right away, you name it, and it never ever game me any error or broke on me. I just finally got rid of it because I wanted an HDTV and a blu-ray.
Summary: I love this DVD player. I bought mine about two years ago and it still plays every disc perfect. My wife and I have different schedules and like different tv shows on DVD. This player is perfect because it remembers exactly where I am when she changes discs, I just put mine back in and it plays.
Summary: My player just died same as all the other reports on here. Any disc I entered it reports "cannot play disc." I've tried all the standard troubleshooting steps to no avail. It did last for a year and a half, but now the replacement and repair costs are basically the same as a new unit. This is the second Sony DVD Player I've had that has simply stopped working.
Summary: Maybe I should get together with some of the other disappointed buyers of this DVD player. My unit will play DVDs but won't play CDs. I use the term "will play DVDs" loosely because they have to have a pristine surface, or the unit will freeze up and skip chapters. It won't play 85% of the rental DVDs that I bring home.
Summary: Hate it! - I bought my Sony DVD player about 6 months ago, worked great then out of the blue I kept getting "cannot play" errors. It will play music CDs or video CDs but NOT DVDs. Called the Sony help desk, they had me unplug it for 2 minutes, plug it back in, then insert a DVD - same message. Their response was that for 39.99 and shipping they would give me a replacement "refurbished" unit. For that price I bought a Zenith on sale.
Summary: I hate my Sony DVD player. Worked great for the first six months, but now I receive the message "Please insert disc" when I put in a DVD. If I can get the player to work by repeatedly inserting a DVD, the player skips from chapter to chapter and breaks apart when trying to read the DVD. I am surprised to find a substandard product from Sony. I have repeatedly purchased Sony TV's and various other products without incident.
Summary: I received this Sony DVD player as a Christmas present and within 2 weeks it began giving me an error message that said "Cannot Play Disc". I tried several brand new DVDs and even went out and bought a DVD lens cleaner kit all to no avail. Now it will only play CDs but no DVDs. I'm stuck because I didn't save my receipt and the cost of repair is as much as a new DVD player. After doing research on the internet I found that SONY has a history with these types of problems.
Summary: I purchased this particular Sony DVD player approximately a year ago as an accoutrement to the bedroom system, not requiring a DVD player that was too high speed and high cost and in that function, this outstanding Sony DVD player has worked perfectly! There is literally nothing that I've experienced with this player that could be classified as a detractor to its overall quality for its price range.
Summary: After comparing the Sony NS325B to a lot of different brands and their features, such as the Panasonic S25K, I found it less generous on features, but just as reliable on multiple format decoding, and more stable on quality and longivety. It's very attractive with it's slim casing, and even though they are small at first notice, all major function buttons are ready to use manually on the from panel display.
Summary: I normally love SONY products, but I too have suffered with a 2-year old SONY dvd player which now fails to be able to read DVD's, instead giving the dreaded C:13:00:00 failure, whatever this means (I interpreted it to mean unable to read TOContents, so I was forever cleaning my disks hoping it was just dust!). I have never been unhappy with SONY elecronics before, but I certainly am now. Stay with SONY on other stuff, but consider a different brand for DVD technology.
