Summary: I purchased this product in July of 2010 and wanted to wait and give it my own workout and my how time flies. I am very pleased with this product and gave it five stars for everything even areas I know nothing about because it is serving my entertainment needs. I have read the mixed reviews and decided to take a chance. I didn't want to spend a lot because I wasn't sure if down the line I would be looking in to buying a blue ray.
Summary: This is a piece of trash, I sent this dvd to be repaired because all it was saying was loading, but it wasn't loading. I paid $33.00 dollars for a repair fee and they keep my dvd for about 8 weeks, they told me they did'nt have the parts to repair it so they sent me a refurbish,,which does not work and they want me to pay them another $33.00 for repairs,I only had it two weeks and it started doing the same thing the last one was doing.Amazon need to stop selling this...

Summary: I read the other reviews and I thought we would give it a shot...It worked wonderfully for two and a half months and then just stopped...It was never placed any where where it would get too hot or too cold or any thing else (I read some of the other reviews). Just thought I would throw this out there because it was a great price...but I think we will stick with the old single dvd player...
Summary: Like so many others have experienced, after 7 months, my Sony DVP-NC800H has stopped loading all disks. It first started hanging at the end of TV episodes a few days ago, and then progressed to have more and more trouble until finally failing consistently. My first DVD player was a Panasonic and it lasted for 10 years, a Toshiba Tivo with DVD player is still playing DVDs just fine after 6 years, and a cheap $20 Magnavox DVD player is still fine after 3.5 years.
Summary: I received this as a Christmas gift last year from my husband and the player went out before the following Thanksgiving. It lasted less than a year! I was very disappointed in that how much money my husband spent on the player and that it was a Sony, which is usually a good brand. Beware, I did some research on the issue it was having and it is a common issue in this model.
Summary: I really like this product, but one thing that make me mad--it doesn't work after getting it last May and just choked today. So, how many months it works? About 7 months. I am here complaining because it's the same complaint that everyone is pointing out. Warning: You'll love it for awhile until its life span ends less than a year. Funny though, I brought a cheapy $20 dvd player and it's still working for the past 4 years now (I think I had dropped it couple times too).
Summary: I bought this to have for a common area in our church where we play music and occasionally need a DVD player. So, I bought it mostly for the CD capabilities. The CD capabilities can hardly be labeled that. After a few months of sporadic functioning, the player stopped reading any CDs altogether, both burned CDs and pre-recorded CDs. I have always been a fan of Sony products, but this thing is a piece of junk.
Summary: Just adding my bad experience to the growing number of complaints being listed here re Sony DVP-NC800H/B HDMI/CD Progressive Scan 5-Disc DVD Player. Aside from having an extremely frustrating remote, it began having intermittent problems about 7 months in, increasing gradually to failure just after 1-yr warranty expired. Had an old 5-disc carousel Magnavox that lasted almost 9 years.
