Summary: I've had this for about mmm.. about 2 years or so now and it still works great!!! It plays mpg. and avi. dvd files, they're the only ones I've tried so far. I love it. I bought mine at fred meyer though. I would recommend this dvd player to a friend/family member anyone who doesnt like it is nuts!
Summary: I have 3 of these and purchased one for a friend...they had a Phillips DIVX player and he stated this Samsung was far better, easier to use, and clearer...It doesn't have any problems playing AVI, DIVX, MP3's ... etc... you will not regret buying this item...
Summary: I bought this Samsung Upconverting DVD player almost 2 years ago to go with my Samsung LCD TV. I stayed with the Samsung brand because I was so impressed with my TV and I wanted it to sync up easily. Initially everything was fine with the DVD player. I worked great with my TV and because it was Upconverting it was a big difference in picture quality compared to my regular DVD player.
makes noise and picture pauses, disc skips and jumps

Summary: You get what you pay for... cheap. The player is s-l-o-w to start, the remote only occasionally works (and has a horrid layout), and the player makes a grinding noise which is followed by a paused picture and then jumpy scenes before returning to normal. This odd behavior has occurred while watching multiple movies, so it is not just one dvd causing a problem. The discs have not been scratched or damaged in any way by the player, and remain in like-new condition.
Summary: Well this is my second Samsung unit and as pervious one lasted about a year. This is also going to be my last Samsung DVD player as I would expect for these devices few years. The 2nd one started to go bad today, starting to skip.. DivX as well as regular DVD's. Perhaps I am not having much luck with this company?
Summary: This is by far the best DVD player I've ever owned, and I've owned about 10 different players. It does everything well and picture quality is much better than a standard, non-upconverting DVD player on my 61" Samsung. And, with the power off on both the player and the TV, you can press the open drawer button and the player and the TV will power up and the TV will automatically switch inputs to the DVD player.
