Summary: My old (dead) VCR had a port for the coax cable. From thereon the signal was distributed to the TV. This new one doesn't have a way to connect since we don't have a STB. An adapter from the Shack didn't work either: the VCR did not receive any signal. Samsung said: you need a cable box.
Summary: NotTheBuddha - It is not unreasonable to expect that the unit would be able to take the VCR and other analog inputs and convert them to digital to be sent along the HDMI pipeline. Thank you posting your findings, I think you have saved me from buying.
Cons: hard to install....directions not clear.....Cannot even get anything to show up on my non HDTV so ready to either return it to the store or put it in the trash.....My last one was so easy to install....
Cons: The DVD portion of the V9800 stopped working one week after the 90 day warranty, worst yet it was only used about 20times. The killing part is they wanted me to pay $45.00 to ship & $45.00 return it to me. 4 words, They must be crazy!
