  • Summary: We were looking for an inexpensive VCR player because ours quit working and we still have so many VHS tapes. We weren't able to find just a VCR, but this one that is a VCR and DVD player works just fine for our purposes.

Samsung DVD/VCR Player (Refurbished)

Overstock
15 March 2010
  • Summary: I still enjoy using a VCR even in this age, call me Old School I guess. I have enjoyed this product very much. However, I can tell its a refurbished item, but the clicking and the whirring I hear when I fast forward or rewind in BOTH VCR and DVD modes. Because the price was good and I wanted to have 2 in one its not a big deal to me. I am glad I was able to purchase it for so little.

  • Pros: Nothing GOOD
  • Cons: DVD door won't open after just 4 months - don't buy this Tried working with Customer Service - but just kept insisting they would fix it for 45.00 and if it broke again, I'd have to pay again.

Bad Choice

Overstock
10 January 2010
  • Summary: I don't know if it is the brand or not, but the recording part of the VCR does not work, which is why I got it in the first place. I bought it as a refurbished machine. It was difficult to figure out how to hook up, so I kept thinking that that was the problem, but after having someone else attempt it, discovered the recorder did not work. Guess that's why VCR's are just about obsolete.

VCR problem

Overstock
9 January 2010
  • Summary: I had just purchased a Samsung HDTV and needed a new DVD/VCR player that was compatible with it. The Samsung model looked exactly like what I needed. When I hooked it up the DVD player with HDMI interface worked very well. Using the VCR required separate patching. The HDTV had component available as did the VCR so i tried that. It did not work. A review of the instructions revealed that was just another option to patch the DVD.
