Excerpt: For the price this seems an excellent little unit. Unlike the other reviews have had no problems with any playback or the remote. Maybe Im just lucky but cant find anything bad to say on this. All media plays well too.
Excerpt: I bought the predecessor to this machine. After 15 months (just outside any likely warranty) it stopped playing DVDs. This may be better but I am certainly not putting my money on it. Usual short-term consumerism with stuff that looks cheap but isnt as it cant be repaired....
Excerpt: The Samsung DVD-V6800 is a straightforward machine. Inexpensive, and does the job well of playing both tapes and discs. Some descriptions of what it does are somewhat confusing so for all clarity: it does not record DVDs, but it does record on VHS. Therefore it does not copy from VHS to DVD either.
Excerpt: This is very reasonably priced and fine if you basically just want to playback videos and dvds. It has all the features you would expect, subtitle menu, zoom etc and it really just plug and play. I was also impressed by the fact it played some of our more scratched DVDs when our more expensive model wouldnt.
Excerpt: Everything went Hunky dpry, set up auto tuning of preset channels, swapping to appropriate channel numbers i.e. bbc1 to P1, bbc2 to P2 etc My problem, which didnt surface until later when recording on video, is terrible distortion viewed on the satelitte channel? Only purchased that weik so early days, anybody else witness this? If so, any suggestions?
Excerpt: I bought one of these units during January having been assured it played and recorded DVD and video. Given the low cost, I was doubtful of this from the start. It plays both media without problem (although handset is not good and requires multiple pushing of buttons for any response).
Excerpt: Excellent choice , I bought it for my elderly Mum, setting up was easy with no problems with the Auto set up , it really is that easy , timer Programming is also easy and not to complicated for my 89 year old Mum. The only thing I would say , is that the remote Bttons are a little small , no problem for many of us , but once again for an elderly person it could present a problem initially. Once you got used to it , its all straight foward. A very good buy.
Excerpt: This unit has an analogue tuner and so will be defunct after the digital switchover, but if you are looking for a decent player for your VCR tapes, plus a good DVD player, then this is the one. At this price too its a snip. Smart appearance, and delivers good sharp pictures to screen.
