The DVD-R155 supports playback of CD, DVD, CD-R, SVCD, CD-RW, DVD+R, DVD-R, DVD+RW, DVD-RW, DVD-R DL, and Video CD media types. It outputs video at 1080i resolution. It also supports DivX digital video standards as well as MP3 and WMA digital audio standards. Apart from these, it is compatible with JPEG images.
For recording audio and video, the Samsung DVD-R155 supports DVD+R, DVD-R, DVD+RW, DVD-RW, and DVD-R DL media types. Its recording time is at 6 to 8 hours for single layer DVDs or at 12 to 16 hours for double layer DVDs. Apart from its multi-format recording functions, it supports 1080i/720p video and audio transfer through an HDMI connection.
Other recording features of the Samsung DVD-R155 include an EZ recording mode, EZ editing functions, and a chapter creator.
The Samsung DVD-R155 features a stereo audio system with Dolby Digital and DTS outputs. Its response bandwidth is from 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz.
Connectivity options with the DVD-R155 include an HDMI output that is compliant with HDMI 1.3 specifications. It also has two 21-pin SCART ports, one optical digital audio output, one coaxial digital audio output, a composite AV input, an audio line out, an S-Video output, and a component video output. At the front panel of the Samsung DVD-R155, a 4-pin FireWire IEEE 1394 terminal and a composite AV input are available.

I recorded a DVD -R on Sumsung R155 with source as TiVO. Now I can play it back using Samsung DVD R155, but can not play on any other DVD player, Mac or PC. It say DVD is blank or format not recognisable.

Yes, but it has a poor DivX Playback
