Summary: I bought this dvd recorder after looking around Amazon at all my options. This had the features I wanted (and some I don't use) for a decent price. I plays well, records easily, and I love the timer record. I haven't used any of the features of chapters. This works well for my simple uses.
Summary: With DVD blank discs now at less than $.25, this is a great way to capture and archive your favorite shows. Not having the internal hard drive limits use for frequent record and erase, since erase means discard the DVD, but at recent prices for the blanks, perhaps that is not a problem! Easy to use ergonomics. Lots of variety in connecting both in and out.
Summary: This is a well made product. Recording is very easy... BUT the instructions! They must have been translated, verbatim from Chinese. Very little makes sense, but you can probably muddle through and make a decent DVD with little trouble. I'd love to REALLY know how to make "chapters" on my DVDs... the manual, which is BIG, doesn't really tell you all that much about HOW to do things.
Summary: An excellent recorder with a few weaknesses in documentation and ergonomics. E.g., setting Progressive Scan is documented under Menu options whereas there is a dedicated button for that function, not a menu option. I also wish it would handle the SACD format.
Summary: I like this unit. It is hooked up to an S-Video in from my Digital Cable Box, and uses a component video out to a Mitsubishi HDTV. Picture quality is very good; I'm very used to my high-quality Sony DVD player DVP-NS700P, but this one is very close. There is just a touch of graininess to the picture from the Cable box, but then I've not compared with other units. I think its more than acceptable. A DVD I burned played fine on the Sony..but..
